We booked a table as a family treat following our son's exam success and we had been looking forward to it all week. When we arrived it was very busy with quite a few people smoking directly outside the entrance. When we entered a couple were upset at waiting for an hour for their takeaway. We were ignored initially but after 5 minutes wait we were told to wait by the side of the bar for our table. After 15 minutes we were shown to our table but ignored completely. No-one came over to apologise for the wait or indeed offer us any refreshment. Unfortunately after 30 minutes we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Nobody apologised. We will not be visiting again.

We made a reservation for saturday night, it was fairly quiet but still seemed to have uncleared empty tables and be generally grubby. We ordered a coke and a diet coke, both were flat, sent them back but the replacements were also flat! After a long wait , we got our food but the way the naan bread was served turned us off, the waiter was holding the plate with his thumb across the naan, and he then coughed over the food . The small amount of food we had was reasonable, but by now we wasn't comfortable eating there.

This is by far one of the best indian restaurants you will ever visit! The food is fresh, tasty and generous. As regulars here we are always welcomed by a friendly smile and quick, efficient service. A great value meal if you go Mon-Wed and eat from the £9.95 menu.

Visited the Viraj on a Sunday night and was very quiet. However the food was superb. My daughter commented that the king prawn masala was the best she'd ever tasted. Would definitely recommend.
