“Spectacular Spring Break!”
Reviewed April 26, 2013 via mobile

We can't recommend this place highly enough - it's an absolute gem!

It has a spectacular rural setting and yet is very accessible. We had brilliant trips to The Eden Project and Tintagel, both within easy reach. We stayed in the Byre, which is kitted out with everything you could possibly want, including a very welcome cream tea on arrival! The views are truly stunning and we could not have asked more of the hosts. Tania and Richard were always available with friendly advice on the local area, and the added bonus of excellent quality home-cooked take away meals really added to the whole experience.

We would echo the sentiments of all the previous reviews, and were really quite sad to leave. In their literature, they describe Mennabroom as 'a little corner of heaven', and they are not wrong. We hope to return before too long.

The B&B is located 30 minutes drive from Eden project and close to Dartmoor, which were the reason we chose it.Locating it took a bit effort as we relied on our SatNav and disregarded the directions on the B&B's website, which we shouldn't have: the directions are clear and the SatNav can't find it.
The place itself is very nice. We stayed in the blue room which was very spacious for all three of us (two parents and daughter). The breakfast was great as expected, and Richard and Tania were very hospitable and nice. We especially liked the structure of the house, which, as it turns out. dated back to the 13th century!
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this B&B

We had three lovely days in Cornwall and enjoyed our stay at this excellent B&B. The farmhouse is beautifully furnished, warm and cosy. On arrival Tania gave us a very warm welcome and a gorgeous cream tea! The guest rooms are comfortable and spacious ,huge en suite with terrific power shower..Tania provides top quality toiletries and fluffy bath robes. There is amazing attention to detail.....cotton buds ,tissues and hand lotion!! better than some 5* hotels I have stayed in.

The breakfast menu offers lots of choice and is cooked to order. The sausages are from their own pigs and home made.....to die for!! Tania will provide evening meals if you wish....be warned you won't require lunch as her portions are very generous!
Mennabroom is a beautiful place and well situated for touring Cornwall. I would highly recommend a stay.

Room Tip: Both guest rooms are lovely.

Booking and arrival arrangements were made easy by efficient and prompt email replies.
A very friendly welcome from Tania giving us a quick tour and then allowing us time to settle before we popped back down to the most cosy of sitting rooms for a cream tea in front of the wood burner.
The room was beautifully decorated with cottage style soft furnishings and a view over the garden. The huge en-suite shower room was great and doubled as a sleeping area for Oscar, our spaniel.
Breakfast was wonderful with ample tea and toast in addition to our full Cornish and smoked haddock with the brightest yolked eggs to see us through the morning.
All of this served up in a beautiful stone farm house in an incredible location gave a good foundation for a very enjoyable weekend.
I would happily recommend this to all looking for a friendly retreat.
I wish we could have stayed longer and hope we have the chance to visit again.

Stayed at The Byre. One bedroom self catering cottage adjacent to the farmhouse. Perfect getaway within easy driving distance of most towns, villages and attractions. Cottage was beautifully set up and had everything we needed. Constant hot water and excellent heating you could have on all day if you wanted at no extra charge. The cottage kitchen and living area are open plan but were still cosy even in the depths of February winter weather. Also a woodburner for that extra warmth if needed. Burner was laid ready for lighting on arrival with a basket full of logs supplied. Richard also kept us supplied with logs through the week. (Cheapest in the area, don't bother looking elsewhere.) A surprise cream tea waiting was very welcome after our journey. Bed was very comfortable and huge, lovely clean linen and extra blanket if needed. Excellent power shower, bathroom lovely & warm. Maps and local information were really handy as was the list of dog friendly pubs. Books and board games a nice touch for our evenings in. Both Tesco & Asda deliver so we didn't have to bother with shopping. Lots of walks around the property where you're welcome to wander at will. Grassy area in front of the cottages with BBQ area and rotary dryer probably gets a lot of use in the summer. No mobile 'phone reception but we weren't bothered about that. Couldn't have asked for more and on top of all that very reasonable price indeed. Shall definitely be going back and very happy to recommend.

Took some finding as it is literally in the middle of nowhere and Sat Nav does not find it! However, beautiful once there, very friendly hosts, first class food and lovely room. Nothing was too much trouble for Tania. Great character to the property and attention to detail was fantastic. If we return to Cornwall we shall stay there again.

My partner and I took my grandmother (77) to Cornwall for four nights mainly to see the Eden Project which she had hinted about for a few years now! We chose Mennabroom B&B via the internet for a number of reasons; it is centrally situated and although rural and beautifully secluded it is near the A30 which runs through the middle of the county making it very easy to visit different locations around Cornwall. The building itself is 13th century so is full of character and charm set on a hilly farm with beautiful gardens and spectacular views as you come down the drive.

Everything from the minute we arrived until we sadly departed was perfect. Clotted cream tea on our arrival was divine and much appreciated after our long drive from the east midlands. We had pre-booked the evening meal and Tania cooked us a three course dinner on our first evening - oh my goodness! We were very happy and full little piggies climbing into our enormous beds that night! The bedrooms (pink and blue) and respective ensuites were immaculately clean and well stocked with high quality and thoughtful bits for our stay.

The worst thing about this B&B is that there is too much choice on the breakfast menu so every evening we were in a dilemma about what to order! Luckily as we were there for four nights I got to sample the full Cornish breakfast (including Mennabrooms own eggs, bacon and sausages), slow cooked porridge, poached eggs, and salmon and scrambled eggs. I can honestly say everything was amazing. Even gran (who can be somewhat difficult to please at times) was impressed.

Our hosts were friendly (Millie the black lab more so than anyone!) and very helpful in making recommendations and giving helpful tips about our intended visits to attractions. Overall Mennabroom ticked all the boxes for all three of us and we were so pleased we had picked it as our base for seeing Cornwall. Would recommend it without hesitation.
