“Great spot for relaxation”

We enjoyed a week in this great cottage. Perfect spot for exploring Gelt Woods, Cumbria and the Tyne valley. The cottage is comfortable, with all you could wish for, warm spacious well-equipped. Situated right opposite the bridge at Low Gelt you have wonderful walks outside the front door. Talkin Tarn, Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle, Hexham all nearby. From your bedroom window, watch Pheasants, listen to buzzards and hear the relaxing flow of the river. Good for all the family with wi-if, all bedrooms en suite, and easy access bathroom for the downstairs bedroom.

“Old Hare and Hounds Brampton”
Reviewed July 30, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

The accommodation is top class all to a high standard, I would describe it as home from home.
Easy to find, not far from the M6, good space for parking.
The house itself is very well equipped with TVs in the bedrooms and lounge.
Loads of dvds and games for wet days.
Log fire is very hot, we tried it, had to open windows.
Plenty of hot water at all times and each bedroom had its own shower or bath, all being a good size.
Cooking and washing up was easy, dishwasher provided.
Plenty room for six people.
If you use the stair gate it fits right at the stairs.....
Good walks close by and easy access to Hadrians wall etc.
Thanks Mark for a perfect stay.

“Stylish, snug, comfortable. Everything you could wish for.”
Reviewed October 18, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The Old Hare and Hounds is one of the best holiday rentals that I have stayed in. The quality of the finish is top class, the beds are really comfortable and firm ( no "saggy bed" back ache!!).
The accommodation is warm at all times and has the added luxury of a log burner if you need a top up.
Mark, the owner, is really helpful and is very keen to "get everything right" so if there are any little niggles, don't stew on them, just go and talk to him.
The forest, opposite the cottage, is stunning and you can walk for 30 mins or all day, whichever you prefer.
Travelling is easy as you are literally 10 minutes off of the main roads, but it is so tranquil, you would think you are miles from anywhere.
The night skies, if clear, are stunning and well worth turning off all the cottage lights and watching the stars appear.

We have just come back from our family holiday at the Old Hare and Hounds and have to say what a lovely house this is. The house is very well laid out and very comfortable. There are lots of walks from the house and easy access to the main road for all the other attractions.

“Fantastic, peaceful property”

We stayed for a week in this property.
The setting is in a tiny hamlet and next to the river.
We were walking and mountain biking and the property gave perfect start points for this.
The property is new and very well appointed.
The wood burner throws out a great heat but is rarely needed due to the well heated nature of the building. Nice for drying the boots though.
The lower room was for my mother and is disabled friendly so she coped well. The re is a wet room facility.
The two other bedrooms are also comfortable.
The views are marvellous, even a waterfall across the road.
We used the pub within walking distance and it has great Cumberland sausages!
We loved the quiet and will book again.

Stayed here with friends for New Year. The property is fantastic, lovely setting. On arrival the property was clean and warm with the addition of underfloor heating and a log burner. Well equipped kitchen, washing machine, dryer, dish washer etc. The three bedrooms were spacious and all ensuite, my partner and I had the ground floor room with wet room which was perfect, double doors opened to the outside from the bedroom so that we could let the dog out early in the morning without disturbing our friends upstairs, so great room if you have a pooch. Mark the owner lives next door and introduced himself, we were told that we could knock on his door if there was anything we needed, I say next door, this property has the feel that you are away from everything, there is a lovely wooded area across the lane, great for dog walking. The Lane End Pub which is approx 7 mins walk away is well with a visit, a warm welcolme, good food, and dog friendly, if you walk and it's dark be aware there are limited pathways, a torch is a must. Another place to visit locally is The Talkin Tarn, a huge lake, great for walking around. Thank you Mark, beautiful place.

“Exceptional Cottage”

6 of us stayed over the New Year. Cottage is very well maintained, exceptionally equipped, very comfortable and warm within lovely surroundings. We had a great time in the cottage playing games ( most of which were provided) and took advantage of the local walks. The Lane End pub is a must for food. Talkin Tarn a very easy walk with plenty to do for kids and dogs. Went to Hadrians wall and Hexham both worth a visit. This is a must for countryside lovers, plenty of walks from the doorstep, don't forget the dog, 'Eddie' loved it!
