“Great food at a lovely venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014 via mobile

A really lovely bright cafe, had a hot roast beef panini which was scrumptious and was served quickly, sister had a gorgeous raspberry coconut cake and a peanut butter brownie for her little girl. It's a really child friendly cafe, with kids choices on the menu, colouring books and toys to play with. Good selection on the menu for adults, lots of nice looking dips and home made goodies.
Good local homemade produce and some interesting artwork up too!

“Cakeathon :-)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2014 via mobile

I have visited Monocle on a number of occasions now and never got around to writing a review, so here goes.
The cakes at Monocle are delicious, homemade and substantial. Team this up with a Nutella Hot Chocolate (yum!) and you're in sweet heaven!
I have bought hampers from the deli section before which are fab gifts, but I think the deli element has reduced here a bit since it opened, which is a shame, but understandable if there is more business to be had in filling the space with more seating.
This is a quirky little deli that has a relaxed atmosphere and quite an eclectic crowd, old and young.

Service on occasion can be a little slow, but that's generally because they are often busy. However, I'd suggest keeping an eye on this. There is much competition in Macclesfield now with the arrival of a few similar cafes, but there's room for everybody if people would only drag themselves away from the "chains"!
Monocle is slightly expensive, but for that you are getting quality ingredients, which personally I'd rather pay for than eat plastic cheese and naff bread!
Worth a visit for sure!
