Not only is it all the good things others have mentioned, but it allows you in wearing your boots and IS OPEN TILL 6 - even on a Sunday! So it is VERY handy at the end of a walk when the NT cafe at Lyme Park has long since closed, or on the return trip towards Stockport after an earlier finish in the Goyt Valley, say.

Lovely little place with log burning stove. Was very busy on a Saturday lunchtime and the waiter was struggling to get round everyone, but was very apologetic and we didn't mind. It was nice to see such a an unusual 'cafe' so busy and the food was good and well priced. If we lived closer it would definitely be a place to visit regularly.

Stopped here for afternoon tea after a nice walk around Lyme Park. Lovely scones and great hot chocolate. Will be back for a larger meal soon.

we stopped off and this hidden brilliance! we were welcomed by a lovely lady who made sure our seating was clean as soon as we sat down and came to us as soon as she could even though it was busy ! we had a lovely jacket potato each that was hot and tuna was lovely .. the pot of tea was nice and also hot which you dont get everywhere ... the surroundings in the cafe were lovely lots to look at .. such as the history of the building , crafts and paintings being sold and lovely jams for sale... there is outside seating and a car park .. the cafe is avaliable for functions which is a definate thought for a near birthday!

This is a small eatery that we met very unexpectedly. It has around 12 tables, including some on a sort of mezzanine section, with a good deal of parking space (outside!).

They sold a wide range of food, from scones with jam and cream through to starters, mains, and desserts. There was a huge range of mains, and lots of snacks/teas. Although the menus on the tables suggested such things as sandwiches and cakes, there were three wall boards that listed everything else that was available. And the prices were very good. For those who fancy an alcoholic drink, they also sold beer and wine.

It was quite busy when we were there, and we were told that they were particularly busy because the weather was good and there were lots of walkers out. We weren't out walking, but were very pleased we found it.

If you are interested in going directly to it, the co-ordinates for your GPS are N53.32310, W2.08543. It's well worth a visit!
