The Rising Sun is a Greene King managed pub on the outskirts of Macclesfield. It's located next to the Premier Inn and there were plenty of free parking spaces. The premises were clean and well presented with ample seating and a large bar area. The menu was varied with something for everyone including vegetarians. There were 3 real ales on sale together with the usual selection of wines and spirits associated with a Greene King pub. There were only two bar staff in the front of house and although they were very efficient two staff was not enough to serve the drinks and deliver food in this popular pub. The lack of staff meant slow drinks service and longer than acceptable waiting times for food. The food was of a standard you would expect from a Greene King managed house. If the staffing issues could be sorted I would certainly recommend a visit to the Rising Sun.

Staying at a local motel we decided to try the Rising Sun for an evening meal. We were so satisfied with the speed of service, the attitude of staff and the food that we ate here for the next 2 evenings of our stay.

Stayed next door. Had lunch and breakfast in the Rising Sun.
Good pub grub. Breakfast was very nice (but how can you run out of baked beans... at nine o’clock on a Saturday?)
Staff very helpful.
