My husband and i visited this very welcoming pub for a tapas lunch. The food was excellent, authentic, reasonably priced and well cooked. We have not eaten tapas like this since leaving Spain. We returned later in the evening to listen to a live folk band. Again we were welcomed by the staff and regulars.
We were staying nearby at the Hollinhall hotel and this pub is only a short walk from the hotel and well worth the visit.

We booked for a birthday meal for Sat 17th Aug '13 at 7 p.m. We were looking forward to a relaxed meal and a few drinks, we had been once before during the week and it was very good. However, on this occasion, the lady serving us was brusque to the point of being rude. The attitude was assertive, which can be o.k. if tempered with some humour but that wasn't the case here. We were curtly told that we couldn't order from the tapas menu and the other menu, it would all have to come from the same menu. And when we agreed so many tapas dishes, we were prompted that the usual order is 2 per person. We said fine but we'll order more tapas later in the evening if we need to, but we're told that wasn't possible, they were too busy that night. Everything revolved around the restaurant being too busy. It totally spoiled the atmosphere of a tapas bar. We enjoyed the food very much, but then left to enjoy drinks elsewhere.

local food, good quality. The tapas were unique, fresh fish very tasty and reasonable prices. Free newspapers, gleaming brass. Nice areas to sit outside if the weather is kind.
