“Great food and pleasant surrounding”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Glad we booked into the restaurant as at 7pm on a Saturday the tables in the bar area were full. It being a lovely summer's evening, it was busy outside too. The menu is not the most extensive but had more than enough for 4 of us to all have something different. Clearly the food is home made and cooked to order, so we were warned there may be a 20 minute wait before the main courses would be ready. Not a problem to us, but we heard some grumbling at another table at a delay in ordering. The pie of the day, peppered steak, was outstanding, as was the sea bass special with queenie scallops, mussels and a fantastic seafood broth/sauce. Fishcakes were a generous portion as was the lamb. We saw a number of the rib specials going out and they were enormous. Plates came back clean, though! Definitely would go again. Have visited at lunchtime and not disappointed then either.

“Quaint Pub with a friendly welcome”
Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

Recently returned to this pub to sample the food. Well it was delicious and cooked to perfection. Followed by the cheese board with a delightful selection of British cheeses. My favourite the Garstang Blue. There is also a small selection of well kept real ales.

“Lovely freshly cooked food.”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Had several meals here. Food always excellent. Menu updated regularly to reflect the seasons and never had a bad meal, (6+ visits). Good value, very attentive and eager to please staff. On one occasion friend who wasn't quite so pleased with her meal had her complaint dealt with immediately and to her satisfaction. Cann't fault it.

“Good food & good beer”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

After visiting a very pleasant day visiting Little Moreton Hall, Biddulph Gardens & Nether Alderley Mill, we asked the staff to recommend somewhere closeby for good beer and food and they suggested The Davenport Arms and it was an excellent recommendation.
As other reviewers have said, the staff were very friendly, the real ale was really good, the food was very good (big burger) and the service was quite quick.
The were several dinning rooms which gave an intimate feel though we ate outside in the very large gardens, as the weather was good.
For the quality of the food, I thought it was good value.
The Davenport Arms has a good reputation which is well deserved.
