“GREAT PLACE TO STAY.”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

We had the joy of staying here for one night at beginning of November. Were greeted by friendly receptionist who showed us to our room with a seaview...What can we say but room was lovely, clean and well furnished.Food was lovely and the freshly cooked breakfast was to die for.Overall well impressed and will visit again.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are worth the extra money.

We took advantage of the midweek special. Dinner and b&b for £99. Great value. Our room was nice but at the back of the hotel. We could have paid a little extra for a sea view and I would the next time. Room clean and well furnished. Plumbing a little noisy when it came on in the morning. The menu for dinner was short but still interesting. My wife had lamb shank and I had cod. Really good food in a nice environment. Staff very efficient and attentive.

I had the joy to stay here for one night at the end of September. The selling points are the great location by the Marina, and the helpful staff. Overall, very impressed and would visit again in the future.

Stopped to have lunch in this modern venue, the food was excellent.

Great views over the harbour and the menu really made use of local produce (particularly the seafood). The prices were a little steep and perhaps the atmosphere was slightly inflated above the actual quality.

Despite this I would definitely make a return visit.

Only had only night. Stayed in room 12. The room was clean and tidy but the wifi only worked if you stood close to the door. Included breakfast terrific. Noisy extractor fan outside our windw was a bit of a shame!

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view if you can

I stayed here with my husband and son for one night and loved it! Fantastic atmosphere from the moment you walk in and lovely welcome by the receptionist. Our room overlooked the harbour and although there were a couple of small cosmetic issues, the room was spotless, beds comfortable with everything you need in a room. Breakfast was lovely, fry cooked to order. Love the little doggy details throughout the hotel, pawprints on the staffs uniform and on the walls. Would recommend The Salty Dog 100% and we definitely hope to return.

The Salty Dog Hotel & Bistro is a wonderful place to stay. With on-site restaurant you hardly need to leave the hotel. That is except to enjoy the wonders of Northern Ireland. The rooms were well done, most with a view of the Bangor harbour.

A drive away you can get to some of the most spectacular areas for scenery, like the Giants Causeway.

The staff are exceptional! We had the misfortune of a breakdown of our rental car, which resulted in having to rebook, including an additional night for the two rooms our party had booked. With a bit of juggling by the staff, we were able to keep the two premium sea-view rooms we were in. The staff were very helpful with our disabled vehicle, until it was able to be repaired.

As for the food, breakfast was your choice from Full Irish, to cereals, fruit and even something special not on the menu. Dinners were also a great treat and great value, too.
