“Fabulous Getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2010

After returning from a Baltic cruise, our friends from Worchester picked us up at Heathrow. The following day we were off to their favorite getaway hotel in Wales. They set up the reservation for us, and made sure we got the best room in the hotel. It is on the 4th floor next to the spa. I believe it was 403. The room was wonderful, facing Cardigan Bay, as well as the golf course. It had a large balcony for at least 4 people to sit comfortably.

The room had a four poster canopy bed, a flat screen tv, and two sofas for a pre-dinner cocktail with friends. The bathroom was quite large with a great shower and towel warmer.

I can't say enough about the staff. If there is anything you need, they will get it for you without a problem. They go out of their way to make sure your stay is a wonderful experience.

The rate came with full breakfast and complete dinner. Where do I begin about the choices of meals. The dinners were wonderfully presented, and the taste of everything from sea bass to steak was divine. The desserts were sinfully delicious.

My husband played golf while we were there and loved it. The Aberdovey golf course offered clubs and a cart if you so desired. He ended playing with another guest at the hotel and they both walked the course.

As a birthday gift, I had a manicure appointment reserved for my friend. She loved it.
The spa also offeres pedi's and massages.

As far as the hotel is concerned, you can sit outdoors on the lawn overlooking the Bay, and have tea or coffee if you wish. The sitting rooms are wonderful, as is the bar room. All are very intimate and inviting. You can sit and read the paper, or chat with your friends.

They have a lift and rooms for the disabled if needed. They also have an indoor pool.

There is nothing I can say about the Treffedian but Fabulous, relaxing and wonderful.
Thank you Trefeddian for your hospitality.

I have just returned from a walking break with 11 others and stayed at this excellent establishment. I had room 313, a single room at the back of the hotel which was spacious, very comfortable and well furnished. The food was excellent as were the staff, particularly June, Jo & Tom (I even had my own High Chair! - in joke). It was all very relaxed and good fun. The lounges and bar area were all extremely well furnished and comfortable. All in all a class establishment.

We went on one of the 5 day mid week specials, and booked one of the new rooms on the 4th floor. One pays extra for these rooms but you do get a super room. There are of course large comfortable beds, but also areas for dressing and a huge sitting area with 2 sofas. This all comes with a big flatscreen TV and DVD and a bathroom bigger than some bedrooms in other hotels.
The quality of the food has been well described in other reviews and we would concur with all the positive things said about it.
What is less often commented on is the pleasant lounges and bar area. The lounges in particular are all sumptuously furnished and have magnificent vies over the dunes and the sea.
The hotel is well situated for walking (mountains ans coast) and for trips on the bus and train (if you are an over 60 Welsh resident the bus transport comes free).
Top quality and top service all combine to make this hotel an excellent choice

The hotel's position is terrific, just outside the little resort town of Aberdovey and with a great view of the golf course, the sand dunes and the sea.

It's a traditional, some might say old-fashioned, style of hotel where good service comes before most other things. The restaurant is particularly good and ideal for a Sunday lunch at a table by the window on a fine Spring day. It's a bit strange though that visitors who've just booked a table for lunch have to announce themselves at the hotel reception and that they have to go back there to order their coffee. It doesn't give them an opportunity to reward the hard-working waiters and waitresses in the restaurant.

A very pleasant spot.

The Tref really is an excellent place to stay. Please bear in mind though that out of school holiday season there is a particular age bracket that like to stay here - definitely retireds on the whole. Having said that it really is a special place to stay. All the staff are happy to help, everywhere is kept up to date and decorated with beautiful furnishings. My room was a single but was huge - bigger than my parents (80 year olds) who shared a double room. We were on the 2nd floor. The fourth floor rooms really are delightful if you are prepared to pay the extra. The food is very very good. Evening meal probably too large if anything and we often missed out a course. Best of all however is the breakfast which really is excellent. Aberdovey is a delight and because it is west facing you really should book a sea view room so you can experience the breathtaking sun sets.

My partner and I have just returned from a 2-night break at the Trefeddian Hotel near Aberdovey. We were allocated Room 217 which is on the side of the hotel with views to the mountains and the estuary. The balcony caught the morning sun but unfortunately it was too chilly for us to sit out for long whilst we were there.

One word sums up this hotel: QUALITY. Excellent staff, excellent food, quality fixtures, fittings and furnishings.

Breakfast was extremely good: perfectly cooked sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms, fried bread, tomato, black pudding. It was also lovely to have chopped up fruit available for breakfast, eg strawberries and melon, as well as grapefruit, prunes, apricots and a big bowl of yoghurt. The 5-course evening meal was really good too, especially the strawberry cheesecake! Yummy!

A nice touch is the webcam on the roof of the hotel. If you book one of the cheaper rooms at the rear of the hotel you can at least watch the sea on the TV!

I would have liked to have had a go on the putting green and a game of snooker but unfortunately didn't get around to either - maybe next time!

I've often wondered what it would be like to stay in this hotel, as we don't live too far away. It exceeded my expectations in every way and has restored my faith in British hotels.

Just returned from a wonderful relaxing 5 day break at this hoel. This was our second time at this hotel and the standards have remained high. There is a wonderful relaxed atmosphere in this hotel and nothing was too much for the staff to attend to. My wife alos had a beauty treatment in the salon on the top floor, she remarked that the treatment was excellent and that the therapist was brilliant (my wife is a trained beauty therapist herself). We will not hesitate to stay again at this hotel. The sea vews in the morning are just breathtaking.
