A family wedding in June 2012 in Pennal brought us to this part of Wales. I researched many places to stay before deciding on Cartref - mainly because it has king-size beds! My husband is 6'2" and we don't get a good night's sleep in the usual size beds found in most B&B's, or even hotels for that matter. We were very happy with my choice. Our daughters were in the room next to ours, which was a little more compact, but we didn't spend much time in the rooms anyway. The bathrooms were immaculate and the water pressure a treat! We needed flannels, which Jules promptly brought to us.
Our stay was during the deluge of June 2012 - wedding guests staying in Machynlleth had to make a long detour to get to Pennal, because of flooding. Will and Jules were waiting for us when we got back from the wedding to ask us how the wedding had gone and how we had got on with the road conditions. Jules took and washed my daughter's jacket, the sleeve of which she had somehow dipped into a red wine sauce from a lamb shank. Definitely above and beyond. The breakfasts were first-class - delicious local food, well prepared and copious portions. While Will wasn't serving he stayed and chatted, giving advice on things to do, places to go etc. What a wonderful, welcoming family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Cartref Guest House to anybody and everybody, and if we ever find ourselves in the area again, would love to let Jules and Will spoil us with their hospitality again!
