The owners of this B&B were very accommodating. They arranged our transport from the airport when our flight was delayed and they facilitated a very early breakfast. The room was spacious, clean and modern. Highly recommended.

This was my third stay at Altonlea, travelling on business. All three times, my rooms have been spacious, spotless, quiet, and comfortable. I find it a relaxing environment to return to each day, much more pleasant than some chain hotel. There are three full restaurants and three fish and chips shops within walking distance, or one can drive to Hartlepool for more choices. Wi-fi is always available. The hosts could not be nicer or more helpful. I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the area.

We stayed for just the one night and were treated like we were spending the week there. The welcome was prompt, friendly and we were shown to our room by the owner. The room is beautifully decorated, warm and everything we needed was included. The shower room was big - wonderful!
Breakfast was fine; I had hoped for fresh fruit as advertised on the website but this wasn't provided. However, the cereal, fruit juice, coffee, toast and cooked breakfast were very good. The cooked breakfast was to order so fresh for us. It makes all the difference and beats any of the cheap commerical providers of accommodation. A very good experince, thank you.

Hi Margaret

Thanks so much for taking the time to write us a review of your stay.

The fresh fruit advertised is always available, but is stored in the kitchen during busy times to make space for extra place settings in the dining room.

Since your review we have taken one of the tables out of action and placed all of the cereals, fruit on it along with yoghurts and hope to add to it with a selection of dried fruit anad nuts for those aiming for a healthier start to the day. It seems to be a much better solution than serving guests at the table and we have noticed people are making better use of the selection we have to offer, and we hope to make it a permanent change by converting the corner unit to a serving area in the corner of the room.

Thanks again for the review and we hope you return soon to see the changes we have made.

This is a very overdue review as we stayed with Lee, Tony and Olwen in May. We had a fabulous stay with them. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The recently decorated room with a sea view was just perfect. Breakfasts were outstanding and nothing was too much trouble, even down to being able to eat our fish and chips in the dinning room in the evening - tea and bread and butter was provided! We were made to feel extremely welcome and will definately be returning.

A warm welcome awaited us on our arrival. We shown to our room which was warm, extremely comfortable and supplied with everything we need. This friendly hotel was a pleasant place for our overnight stay.

There are plenty of local places to eat out and the beach is kept clean. It a lovely walk along it but it can be breezy.

We will definitely use again when we are in the area and will recommend to family and friends.

Its a bit of a stab in the dark opting for a B&B opposed to the chain hotels but i wouldnt hesitate recommending this gem of a B&B. We had a spacious twin room, spotlessly clean, with the added benefit of free wi-fi. Good quality english breakfast &Secure parking a the rear. This B&B is ideally located for our business activity at Seal Sands. We have already booked for next week.
