I stayed here on two separate occasions in May and June 2014. Although the address is shown as Hartlepool it's actually nearer to Peterlee. This place is literally in a time warp but I mean that in a good way, if you like clean lines and modern decor, it's probably not for you. However Hardwicke Hall oozes character with it's uneven floors and floral (dare I say fussy) decor. The atmosphere is pleasant and calm as life seems to run at a slower pace more akin to bygone times. This was particularly pleasant as I was visiting on business as I found it easy to unwind here.

All of the staff are very friendly and attentive and make you feel very welcome. The food at the restaurant is delicious and breakfast is also great with a wide selection of offerings and freshly made English breakfast,

Room rates are fairly reasonable but it's worth noting that the cheaper rooms are a little small with poor views. In my opinion, it's well worth paying the extra tenner for a larger room overlooking the lovely gardens.

I'd recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.

Good hotel in lovely gardens. Stayed for 3 nights on a KGB deal. Rooms furnished to high standard and of good size (stayed in a twin). Room cleaned and towels changed every day. Tea tray excellent with plenty of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits (tea especially of good quality which is not always the case even in good hotels). Breakfast (full English) was very good and 3 course dinner in the evening was excellent value for money and extremely tasty. Staff helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a quite location with nothing around it. The nearest pub is a five minute drive away and the nearest shops about ten minutes. Hartlepool itself is suffering from the recession and has seen better days. Forty-five minute drive to Newcastle which of course has everything.

Lovely setting for a hotel. You must appreciate this is a listed building. My room was a generously sized twin room and a full English breakfast was included, which was very nice. Very comfortable bed and lovely crisp white sheets. Good tea tray with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. Bathroom a generous size also. I could not use the shower properly as the water temperature was either very hot or scalding hot. I did mention this to the staff on the 2nd morning but nothing was done about it. This inconvenienced my stay and I had to shower in a friends accommodation elsewhere. There was little apology forthcoming and no recompense for the inconvenience. I had booked for 6 people to stay at this hotel later in the year but have subsequently cancelled it due to the poor handling of the shower problem I experienced

Looked at my sister room and it was massive, very clean and tidy bathroom well presented with smellies and towels and bedroom was well presented with 4 poster bed and a nice big desk and tv would deffo recommend to anyone looking for a nice hotel for the night!!

Just returned from this wonderful hotel. Not to be confused with the other Hardwick hotel in sedgefield. We were on a groupon offer which proved to be a very good choice. We are experienced afternoon tea ladies and have tried lots of places in the north east some good some bad. This place is now one of our favorites. The service was superb with lots of fresh coffee and tea being served throughout by the friendly staff. No small pots of tea here which made a refreshing change.we intend to try a stay here soon and will return for tea with our usual party soon.if you fancy a chilled afternoon in a nice setting with lovely staff give this one a try.
