Visited here with a group of friends, better to do the teppanyaki if you are with a group of friends as we were. Service was prompt and friendly, place was quite empty but we did go in quite late. The grill wasn't cleaned off from the previous party which I would have thought the last chef could have cleaned down Our chef was pleasant and did all the usual tricks and got our group interacting. We ordered the set meal for £14.50 which is very good value, selection of starters, soup and a main. All in all, a good night out but I don't think we will return again unless we are in a large group.

This is my second visit and I can honestly say it was great on both occasions. The food is lovely and the service quick. The chap cooking was very funny, did not say very much but was entertaining. 7 of us in total and all of us enjoyed it and had a laugh. We went before 6.30 in happy hour and found it reasonably priced. The staff are very attentive and clear things away very quickly. Live a little and laugh a lot - give it a try.

We love Japanese food and were seriously disgruntled at Fujiyamas closing.. So we were overjoyed naturally to see another Japanese open at the marina. We went for our wedding anniversary - so treat ourselves to the seafood banquet - circa £30 each. One thing to note is that this restaurant also does Chinese meals which are cooked out back and brought to the table... If you want Chinese surely you go to a Chinese??...Firstly we had to share a table with a family with two teens who whined about everything, then the chef came out - he failed to impress with his cooking skills as well as communication - he hardly said a word and didnt seem to understand what we sais when we tried to strike up a conversation...he completely messed up his 'tricks' - i felt so embarassed for him to be honest...all courses were literally served within 15/20mins... It seemed they were just hurrying us out to be honest. The food was bland - no fresh garlic etc when it came to garnishes - it was all sauces from cheap tubs with marker pen reminders of the ingredients. Food was not nasty - but certainly not what we were used to when having teppenyaki at various other Japanese establishments. We had to request chopsticks also, which we received about 10mins later when we could get the attention of the young bar staff who was dazed in a world of her own. No atmosphere at all in the place... We ended up sitting in silence looking at each other in dismay for the majority of the evening.. After our food the ?Manager ?bar staff came over and gave us a quiz in order to obtain a fortune cookie... Great perhaps if you have kids.... Not for two adults wanting a romantic meal. All in all with a couple of drinks we sank around £80 in this place and unfortunately we were so disappointed we will never go back... :( what a waste of money and a disappointment for our anniversary. I really don't recommend this place sorry, I'd rather travel to Newcastle for Japanese from now on. What a shame considering we live on the Marina.

We have eaten here three times, the first time, the restaurant had just reopened. The food was delicious with generous portions and attentive staff....but it quickly went downhill on our next two visits. On our next visit, the food was oversalted and uninspiring, but we thought we would give them one more chance.
On our last visit, I ordered a king prawn dish for which they charged £1.50 extra and was presented with a dull looking dish with 5 of the tiniest prawns I have ever seen arranged on the plate, certainly not King size, more like very poor relations!!! Again, it was overseasoned and glutenous..horrid! and definately downsized from our first visit! Absolute rip off!
I agree with the previous reviewer about the staff, the ones who served us were charming, but were watched over all the time. I also agree that the staff prefer you to sit at the communal table where the chef cooks in front of you, but we asked for a table for two which did not go down too well.
It has had its chance...won't be back!

Fun experience in this place. Food was good, but waiters didnt know the menu. What seemed to be the head waiter, had just appauling knowledge of the menu, but he was watching a very able brand new waiter like a hawk and picking him up on his errors...which was rather like the kettle calling the pot black! Best thing about the place was a fab Philipino chap who cooked dinner on the hotplate in front of you. Be prepared to sit round the hotplate with people you dont know..who then try to make conversation with you as you eat your dinner! Not really for me so will not be going back.
