Friendly, helpful staff, well organised displays, with special exhibitions throughout the year. I particularly enjoyed the pottery feature.

It is very small in the area that is visited by the Public. I think that it could have been a lot bigger when the development was first constructed to take in more Maritime artefacts etc. Te kids will like it.

Well worth a couple of hours. Consider also visiting the Maritime Experience too. Lodas for kids to see and some costumes to try on.

A fascinating mixture of local history. Covering both ancient, and more recent periods. Industries such as shipping are covered with some nice model replica boats and ships

This is a comprehensive, council run museum. The displays are very good, changing regularly. The permanent displays are very varied, of good quality and give a good impression of the history of the town and its progress. The paddle steamer Wingate Castle s moored alongside and has a cafe with some nice home baking and food.
