“So glad they're just up the road now! Top food, service, venue.”

Having eaten at Giacomo's when they were in Lamberhurst, I heard they were moving to Sevenoaks but was delighted to find out they were actually in Weald just up the road.
Daughter booked a table for 4 for my birthday and we turned up last night at 8 and went straight to our table.
The welcome was warm and throughout the evening we couldn't have asked for better service.
The venue used to be a bit cold in its former guise, but the new decor and layout make for a lovely relaxed setting.
We had a super meal although passed on the dessert as birthday cake was waiting at home!
The daily specials were a good choice, fresh and beautifully prepared. Looking forward to going back.

“even better than before the move”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary with Giacomo and Daniella on Monday. We had eaten at their previous restaurant in Lamberhurst several times and were not disappointed by the move. The food is right up there with the best traditions of Italian cooking. The service was efficient and friendly. The renovated building is light and airy. We have already booked for a birthday in February next year and will be going again sooner than that.

“Wealds new Italian undecided!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

Having lived in Weald village for over 15 years we were pleased to hear of an Italian opening in the village. Hoping for somewhere to walk to on a regular basis. We miss Bartella's in Hildenborough where we could dine Italian reasonably.
Tried to book on a few sat evenings but was always told they were fully booked. Called at 5pm last night and was told there had been a cancellation but we were to arrive no later than 7.30pm.
Arrived dead on the time we HAD to arrive! we were greeted by a very young waitress maybe 12 to 14 years?
The barmaid had a hand written piece of paper on the bar with approx seven names on it. There were three tables eating when we arrived. Three more arrived after us. Hardly fully booked.
We had a a drink in the lounge area and were offered some very nice garlic olives and crisp bread. Too soon we were shown o be taken to our table with our drinks and not offered the olives at the table.
On the table was a bottle of Italian red wine at a very reasonable £17.50. We still had our half drunk pre dinner drinks but the waiter opened the wine to breathe. We noticed he decanted all other guests wine so I expect they bought better more expensive wine?
We ordered the Scottish muscles and the Steak flambe at the table and the Carpaccio and Steak Tartare,
The starter came exactly one hour after the time we had been TOLD to arrive! We were by this time very hungry!
The food was delicious although we did think it was quite expensive. £27.50 for steak tartare and five toasted slices of ciabatta.
We also shared a brulee and drank Vin Santo with Biscotti biscuits.
Very nice food but with out much atmosphere.
Total bill £120.00 so not somewhere you would go to eat if you just didn't feel like cooking. Shame as we had so wanted to be able to walk to our local restaurant and stagger home!

“Just loved the new venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

Last night was my first experience of the new venue & wasnt disappointed. The food was, as usual, amazing especially the starter. Whilst the surroundings are quite different from Lamberhurst the atmosphere was great & pleased to see Daniella & Giacomo their usual happy selves.
If you have not experienced the cooking you simply must visit, you will not be disappointed. We have friends from Australia who visit each time they are in the UK & reckon its the best ever. What better praise.

“When to be allowed or not to dine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013

There is absolutely no disputing that this is fine dining by any standards. The class, style and finesse cannot be faulted.
What is not quite so clear is the 'entry trick'? indeed our first visit, with the chance meeting, of the now retired Hildenborough rector of 18 years was a blessing in disguise. The convoluted Italian / English was fun, but on our second visit we could even pass 'GO'. The cause it was deemed that our spending power, on this occasion, was too minimal at luncheon.
Odd I think.
