Description: Valentina's Sevenoaks restaurant is the newest addition to this charming family of Italian deli restaurants. As well as a hugely well stocked delicatessen and a range of over 200 wines, the Sevenoaks branch also has a bustling 50 cover restaurant. The family run group has been satisfying southwest London locals from its Putney branch since 1991 and customers south of the M25 are already doling out rave reviews for the Sevenoaks branch. Enticing window displays, capable and friendly service as well as a classic Italian menu, reasonable prices and authentic Italian coffee all garner praise. Dishes like Capella Romana (tagliatelle with Nonna's meatballs, wrapped in speck and oven baked, served with a bolognese sauce) utilize tried and tested family recipes and quality produce. Wherever possible, ingredients here change with the seasons, and egg pasta is made fresh on the premises daily. Slightly less Italian but no less beloved, breakfasts of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon are also very popular.

Went to Valentina's using a Taste card last night with 2 friends. The waiters were very welcoming and attentive throughout, even when there was an issue with me giving them an out of date Taste card (my boyfriend had taken the 'in-date' one away with him by accident but they were happy with photo evidence!)

The three starters were lovely; the caprese was fresh and vibrant with oozy and delicious mozzarella, garlic pizza bread - large, thin, crispy and tasty, and the fritto misto was good, although the one prawn had been fried in it's shell, which was fine with me as I just took the head off and ate with the shell on but a lot of people may not have liked the extra crunch. Some kind of dip would have been nice too.

Main courses were delicious - Penne Napoletana with nonna's meatballs, spaghetti vongole (clams were plump, fresh and salty - just as they should be) and cappella romana. The cappella romana was very unusual and tasty although maybe a little dense with pasta and not quite enough sauce.

Overall very good service, food and good value (£20 a head including drinks and tip), will be going back and hopefully visiting the deli too.

We visited Valentina's 18 months ago and found it to be one of the most vibrant and interesting restaurants in Sevenoaks, especially among the Italian restaurants. So after a long absence, we returned for our anniversary meal, and I have to say feel a bit disappointed. For starters, my calamari and deep fried courgette were just flavourless - not badly cooked, but just lacking in any sort of flavour. The bread and dipping oil slightly better - some of the bread absolutely delicious (the walnut and fruit loaf) and some frankly a bit stale.

Things picked up with the mains. My beetroot gnocchi was the highlight - lovely fragrant balls of dough in a beautiful creamy/cheesy sauce - and the redness of the beetroot a nice inventive touch. My partner's chicken and courgette with spinach & risotto was plentiful, but again lacked a definitive flavour. Desserts were OK - tiramisu nice but not outstanding, as was my ice cream.

Service was excellent, but given there were two staff and only four tables on a quiet Monday evening, you would expect this. Maybe part of the problem was a lack of atmosphere that you certainly get at weekends, but even accounting for that, the whole occasion was a bit meh. I've given four stars, but really only three and a half this time.

For several years we have walked past and said 'we should have a meal here'. We finally visited Valentina last weekend, and what a find. The restaurant has its own delicatessen, with a large range of products. The restaurant is light and airy, the staff friendly and attentive and the food was excellent. We booked for an early supper and there was just one other couple when we arrived. Within 45 minutes the restaurant was full of happy diners, some larger family parties with several generations, and the ambiance was great. We shall be returning for more of the same!

Much better than the standard fare from the likes of Pizza Express and Zizzis - the food is well presented, fresh ingredients and served with a smile!

My first visit to this restaurant but friends have visited before & recommended. Quite busy (Fri eve) but service was good & food very tasty. Pasta & pizzas we had were very tasty & fresh, wines good too. Lovely lively & chatty atmosphere - just right for our party. Reminded me of "Carluccios" in styling & menu , but smaller & more personal. Would recommend & will definitely return.
