“greek evening at the brasserie”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

A cafe during the day time serving a good range of dishes, but the speciality of this little place is that on Friday and Saturday evenings it turns into a Greek Taverna !
an extensive menu of lots of Greek classics. All well cooked buy the host and owner Lazarus Christodoulou. The staff are lovely and friendly, attentive but not intrusive.
the food was excellent, we started with mezzies followed by moussakas, keftiko, souvlaki and tuna fish, finished off with an ouazo and frappe.
As this is a very small place booking is recommended for evening meals.

“Someone has to be first . . .”
Reviewed June 6, 2014

At the time of going to this Greek restaurant, every review had scored it as excellent. So we were really expecting great things! The owner Lazarus is also the chef and is incredibly charming. The two other staff were very friendly and efficient as well. The restaurant is very pleasant and has a very nice atmosphere. I had the Greek sausage starter which consisted of one smallish sausage which was tasty and it reminded me of Spanish choritzo. It came with a plain and very bland mixed salad. It was overpriced and boring - sorry but it is true. My wife had the Tzatziki with proper and very, very nice Greek pizza bread. For mains, I has a tuna steak - not something you can get every where and I always have it when ever I can. There was a choice of crushed potatoes or chips with it so I chose the crushed potatoes - and that is all they were, boiled new potatoes that had been crushed with no butter or sauce or anything else. The tune steak was very over done and dry and chewy. This also came with a mixed salad but this time it had some salad dressing on it! My wife had the chicken kebab with chips and pizza bread. The chips were not hand cut and so were nothing special and the kebab was pretty ordinary. Now after reading all the other reviews I know how this one will sound but it is our honest experience. All in all, it the food was nothing special but the atmosphere and the staff were very nice.

“Greek magic in Morecambe!”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

We spotted that the Brasserie was open last Saturday night and dropped in to see what was going on. It was full and the clients were obviously having lovely food. The little night-lights on the wall cast a charming glow. Rita, one of the owners was lovely and gave us a menu to take home.

We checked their website - www.thebrasseriemorecambe.com - and also saw that the TA reviews were enthusiastic. And so we were tempted to book ourselves a table for the next Greek evening. [The Greek Menu is available from 6.00pm to 10.00pm from Thursday to Sunday, while from Wednesday to Sunday they do an English menu 8.30 am to 3.00pm].

We were delighted with the whole experience. We had Dolmathakia (vine leaves stuffed with rice and fresh herbs, with a lovely sauce) and Garithes Saganaki (king prawns in a rich red wine and tomato sauce) for starters. Lazarus the chef-owner came out of the kitchen to discuss my husband's preferences for cooking the prawns. Main course was Rosto (lamb shoulder cooked for 3 hours with tomatoes, herbs and red wine) served with rice and Greek yogurt. Although we were pretty full by this stage, we yielded to the temptation of Baklava with ice cream and were glad we did.

The working owners have provided an oasis of varied authentic Greek dishes (Lazarus being Greek). It is hoped that clients with discerning palates in the wider area will come to know it for the great benefit of the locality.

“Great Greek Food”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

Dined here with my husband on May 24th after reading all the good reviews. We were not disappointed. The food and service was excellent! The waitress was really bubbly and friendly, as was the owner. Nothing was too much trouble and my husband was recommended certain dishes and told if he didn't like it they would make him something else. You can't argue with that. In the end I had Lamb Kleftiko and my husband had the Beef Stifado. Neither of us were disappointed. Absolutely delicious. In fact there were other things on the menu that I would have loved to have tried so we have booked to come back again this weekend with friends. Would recommend to anyone.
