“Food is great and you take your own drink!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Food is excellent, service is excellent. As the restaurant isn't licensed you can take your own alcohol which does reduce the cost of a meal out. The restaurant itself is quite nice as you walk down the steps into it. They do deliver and have tea time specials which are a good price. One of my favourite indian restaurants.

“poor service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

My son, daughter inlaw my husband and myself had a table booked for 8pm on Saturday 19/1. When we arrived for our booking the restaurant was already full of costumers waiting for there table. As we were waiting 23 people came in and sat down at a table. My son asked the waiter how long we would have to wait as our table was booked for 8pm and it was nearly 9pm. He said he would have a look, he came back and said he could show us a table we could sit at when the people had finished. Ive never heard of being shown a table you may be able to sit at before, anyway we had a look but it wasn't suitable as it was literally in from of a real coal fire. So we walked out disgusted. This is not the first time we have had trouble in Saffron's. we went one evening there was 8 of us we waited 2 hours for our meal. I just think they try to cram as many customers as they can in. Hate to think what would happen if there was fire as there is no fire escape that i have seen. Saffron's is defiantly going down hill

“Bland poor food wonderful staff and atmosphere”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

I used to love this restaurant. The food was individual and authentic. A year ago i went and ALL the main currys tasted the same. There was no flavour at all. I asked to speak to the waiter and ask if there was a new Chef and he said yes but he was from India.

I told them I was not happy with the dishes as they all had the same sauce but with added cream or onions or different meat. He admitted it was the same sauce.
I didnt go again intill 2 months ago and it is no different. To say Morecambe inhabitants like bland curries is not true. BLAND is BLAND. They may not like hot curries but flavoursome ones are what they expect. Its a shame as I will no never go back. if anyone there is reading this please accept this a constructive critisism. Im sure you must be getting less pattons and Mcbe cant afford to loose another restaurant.

“Lovely atmosphere, Friendly staff, Average curry”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

We visited Saffron whilst on a weekend trip to Morecambe from Bradford, When we walked in down the stairs we were greated by a waiter who showed us to a table. The restaurant seemed cosy and had a nice atmosphere. It was nice that you could take your own drinks as there are many in Bradford which allow you to do this also.

The pickle tray and popadoms were nice, but the main courses well they were nearly all the same, even the waiters could not tell which curry was which, not only when they brought our currys (lamb bhuna, Keema Murcha, and a chicken bhuna). they were all the same colour and tasted exactly the same... they didnt taste bad and were ok but they were the same.... there was a table of 6 people sat opposite us and when they got there main course theres were all the same too. dispite the fact they all ordered different currys.

We asked the waiter why every curry was the same and he said 'because they are all tomato based and the people in Morecambe prefer a mild curry"

So we left Saffrons thinking... the place is nice, the staff are friendly, the starters were nice, but the curry wasnt really much of a curry...
