“Clean and comfortable”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

I stayed here for 4 nights and found the hotel to be comfortable with a decent room and bathroom. It is right on the seafront so views are good, but I was on the top floor and had to travel up narrow stairs and passages to get there. It wouldn't be suitable for the handicapped. The staff were friendly and professional, and yes the reception is very funny abing at the top of the stairs in a back room. The tv had a good selection of channels and the bed was very comfortable.
Morecambe itself has gone downhill though. I grew up here in the seventies and eighties and I remember it was buzzing with lots of things to do and places to enjoy. Nowadays so much has closed down and the once lovely traditional tea shops have been replaced with Middle Eastern / Pakistani fast food kebab shops. Shame how this town has declined so much. I would describe it as a terrible choice for a holiday destination now, although some of the pubs are still great such as The Palatine and the new football stadium is far more comfortable than Crusty Pie.

We stayed in one of the deluxe suites over christmas. The cost was £90 per night b&b. Our room was across the road from the main hotel and was large and clean. There was a leather suite in the room and the 2 armchairs were in the large bay window. This was a great place to watch the tides go in and out and generally people watch. It was quiet when we stayed and the manager and the cook were very accomodating when it came to later breakfast times. The breakfasts were cooked by the owners of Eva's restaurant and they were lovely. The only shortfall was the lack of a lift but the long climb up the stairs was worth it for the view. Roger the manager seemed to turn his hand to anything and deserves praise for all his hard work.

Room Tip: We had room 10 which has a great view. You have to cross to the main hotel for breakfast. Go to Al...

the crown accommodation was superb the bedrooms were spacious and the views were fabulous it afforded us time to rest and reflect ,the breakfast was good indiviudally cooked, with care and attention.Praise must be handed to the manager Roger who was running the place singlehanded and seemed to turn his hair to all aspects of it,yet he still found time to attend to the needs and requests of the clients.A thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Room Tip: ask for seaview

Was disappointed on first sight and throughout our thankfully brief stay. On booking we had been offered a "suite" for what we thought was a reasonable price. However it turned out to be nothing more than a large en-suite bedroom . The reception area was more baffling than anthing. Breakfast was fine but overall a very disappointing stay. Will certainly not be making a return visit.

I booked the hotel for a reunion of old friends and all the couples enjoyed their stay. Yes, the Reception is unusual but as we are all widely travelled nothing surprises us. Most important was the the fact that all the staff were not just helpful and efficient but seemed to actually enjoy their chosen profession. They did all they could to ensure all their guests enjoyed their stay. The chef in Pebbles appeared to take a real pride in his work. Home made bread! The quality is rivalled by Eva's across the road and the Tivoli, a few doors down provided an excellent pint in a genuine local. All the rooms provided a a view of the sunsets thanks to the large bay (no joke intended) windows but the sea front rooms could watch the constant stream of visitors to the Eric Morecambe statue.

Room Tip: The large rooms at the front were ideal for a family with a child

Our room at the front of the building had the most amazing view over Morecambe Bay and was well furnished. This compensated considerably for a number of shortcomings: "Reception" is based in a bedroom at the top of the stairs which was unexpected for a 4 star hotel and gave a less than welcoming feel throughout our stay. Also, as commented by other guests, the carpets could do with a good clean.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the front of the building

We booked this hotel as a birthday treat as website was lovely. Was disappointed when we pulled up to a tatty hotel. The front entrance had greasy marks in the doors. The reception was up a dingy hallway and the reception man slept at the reception ! . behind the receprion desk was his microwave and bed badly disguised by a screen. Not what a normal 4* is like. The bed was too short as my husbands feet hung off the end. There were hairs on the towels and sink. The windows were dirty. Luckily we only booked one night. thankfully we found Evas restaurant beside the hotel and had lovely meals there, as didn't want to try hotel food.
