I guess that most people choose to stay at this hotel due to its iconic Art Deco design.... we certainly did, the hotel’s location in Morecambe was not a factor in our decision. The hotel doesn’t disappoint......the fabric of the building seems to be in good condition and there is none of the shabbiness that one often finds in iconic buildings. There are plenty of staff, most of whom take a real pride in the building and do their jobs professionally and with humour. Our room was on the seaward side of the hotel, was roomy and benefited from a balcony. The room was well equipped and decorated largely in accord with its architectural period. Our only real criticism of the room was that the mattress was well worn and resulted in morning back ache.

The Restaurant makes the most of its seaward views with tables angled to give the best views. The menu is varied and the food well cooked and presented. The service is prompt and professional. Sadly the bar area has the feel of a 1950s sea front cafe and while its circular style is different it doesn’t change the atmosphere. While there were sufficient staff, guidance and management seemed to be lacking resulting, on one occasion, in a 20 minute wait for a drink....which we had to take into dinner.

The biggest disadvantage for this hotel, however, is that Morecambe offers little to occupy guests during the day. The area seems prosperous and the well maintained promenade and flower beds show that the local authority is trying but the preponderance of amusement arcades and lack of bistros, teashops, restaurants, good pubs ( not to mention attractive retail therapy opportunities!) are a problem for the discerning guest! One can only admire the view for so long.

We enjoyed our stay but there simply isn’t enough to do without driving out of Morecambe so we are unlikely to return to this iconic hotel.

One negative point......the kitchen windows, and presumably it’s extraction system, are directly next to the hotel entrance resulting in our arrival bring greeted by the overwhelming odour of school dinners!

Dear Devon_Laddo,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following on from your stay with us here at the Midland Hotel.

It's lovely to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and found your room to be spacious and well equipped and that you were able to enjoy the Art Deco features of the hotel.

I am also pleased to hear that you enjoyed your dining experience at the hotel and found our team to be professional. The Rotunda Bar is very different to other parts of the hotel and I am sorry to hear that it did not meet your expectations and I will ensure to pass on your feedback.

The proposed Eden North project will potentially bring a better variety of attractions to the local area and hopefully may change your mind about a possible return. If so, we would look forward to welcoming you back to the Midland Hotel.

Kind Regards,
Natalie Manley.

We enjoyed a very splendid room on the top floor with a superb view across Morecambe Bay to the mountains of The Lake District. The restaurant had a very exciting menu and the food was delicious served by very friendly and efficient staff.
All in all a wonderful visit, one to remember!

Room tip: Level three for lovely sea views and large balcony.

Recently returned from my sixth visit to this wonderful hotel. I've loved this building from being a child when we spent many happy holidays in Morecambe with family friends who lived there.
To go back now to this fabulous hotel is a privilege, to enjoy the ambience, the decor, the attention from attentive, friendly staff and the wonderful views from our favourite room provide total relaxation.
The highlight for us is our evening meals in the Sun Terrace restaurant. Superb food beautifully cooked and presented as always. Never once have we reached for extra seasoning which, for me, says a lot about the care and attention to detail given by the chefs in the preparation of the food. Also to our attentive waiters over the two nights Sheldon and Poppy, thank you.
The views over the bay only enhance what is my favourite UK hotel. Needless to say we will be back.

One of the few occasions a hotel lives up to the hype the building is a superb example of the Art Deco genre and the bars and Restaurant are a delight our room was spacious with a wonderful sea view and a delightfully quirky yet spacious and practical bathroom .
However what makes it a superb hotel are it’s delightful friendly staff the Reception staff were genuinely warm and friendly and all the young staff in the Restaurant were excellent , Breakfast was exceptional with a lovely range on offer we will definitely return ....

A lovely hotel with some unique features We have stayed here a few times over the last couple of years and as soon as you enter this lovely art deco hotel you will feel special. The reception staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms are so comfy, we have always been lucky enough to have a room at the back overlooking the sea .We experienced gale force winds and rain on our last stay but the view was still amazing an amazing unique staircase, beautiful artwork a restaurant overlooking the bay. There is also a gteat music venue opposite. Can"t wait for my next visit ,rain or shine.

Room tip: Only ever stayed at the back of the hotel and would always ask for the same esp with balcony
