My wife being interested in anything remotely Art Deco, we booked this two night stay through KGB deals and added a sea view room for an extra £20 per night.
The hotel sits on a promentary type site with what appears to be an old ferry terminal jutting out into Morecambe Bay behind it, this has all been renovated and includes seating and, if the weather was good, excellent views across the Bay.
Even though it was quite dull and rainy, the ambience of the Hotel was excellent, superbly decorated, especially the Rotunda Bar, and warm and welcoming.
The staff were similarly warm and welcoming, helpful too when asked anything from information regarding the surrounding area to the history of the Hotel itself.
Our room was spacious with a quirky bathroom entrance that, at first, just looks like an extension to a wooden fronted wall area. The bathroom contained a deep bath, and a walk in shower with a drench type head, there was plenty of hot water available too.
The room is equipped with the obligatory flat screen TV, mounted in a recess in the aforementioned wooden wall, this pivots out on a sturdy arm to allow viewing in bed or from the two chairs in the room. Also below the TV there is a small fridge, a rubbish bin, and a drawer, these all pull out or open and are hidden when the door is closed in front of the TV. The chairs are studio type chairs and we found them quite low, not being as young as we once were, and this was the only negative that we coul think of regarding our stay.
At the end of the room nearest the entrance door theres a wardrobe that opens out to reveal storage space and a pull down clothes hangar. Theres also a room safe.
The dinner and breakfasts were top notch, the food is beautifully presented and varied, the breakfasts have a serve yourself area for porridge and cereals, toast, fruit etc and theres a hot breakfast order service with a variety of delights such as Manx Kippers or a full English.
In the position the hotel is, you can be in the Lakes in less than an hour, over to the east coast in not much more than an hour and a half or round the Forest of Bowland in half an hour and theres Blackpool just down the coast if you fancy a ride on the Big Dipper.
An excellent hotel, quite pricey if you're not on a deal as we were, but worth at least one vist, if only to say you've been and stayed there. We hope to go back.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms would be ideal if you've got the weather!

We live locally and over the years have been to the Midland for various meals and functions but never for lunch in the Sun Terrace,we decided to go on a Thursday. It cant be stressed enough the view across Morecambe Bay,unique,it was particuarly good yesterday with the sun shining and snow on the Lake District hills. It was also lucky that the menu featured some of our favourite dishes such as pasta to start, plaice for main course and an interesting hazelnut panacotta sweet, there were about 5 other choices,my wife had chicken and creme brulee. All the food was cooked with care and a lovely balance of flavours. The waiter was friendly and professional.Prices are what you would expect for that standard but nice to have a treat, the meal couldnt really be faulted.
I would recommend anybody coming to Morecambe to consider a meal in the Sun Terrace, afternoon tea is served, the Rotunda which is the alternative where we have eated before is interesting but i would still favour the Sun Terrace for the view alone. If anybody is staying at the Midland they may also consider a visit to Lancaster 4 miles away for its historical interest.

This was our second stay at The Midland and we just love everything about it. The wonderful Art Deco building is marvellously complemented by a modern but tasteful interior. The restaurant is fabulous on all counts - the food is excellent, the view is spectacular, the staff are charming, and the 1930's soundtrack completes the experience. It really is like stepping back into a bygone era when style was everything. Wonderful!

I checked Trip Advisor before I came , just out of curiosity , and found a couple of negative reports . Please rest assured these can only have been posted by the miserable and the damned ! The Midland is a beautiful hotel , the perfect mix of restored and imaginative new . My room was excellent , comfortable , functional and had superb views across the bay . My lunch was tasty and prompt and throughout all the staff were courteous and polite . Indeed , their love for the place was effused and they keenly gave me impromptu tips and mini-tours .It's spotlessly clean , I parked outside and I've already recommended it to my friends . If you want a treat then put this gem at the top of your list .

Room Tip: I stayed on the third floor , the new rooms and the views from the balcony were lovely

Really enjoyed 2 nights at the Midland using kgb deals which meant our stay was about half the normal price. The hotel is beautiful - it's like stepping back in time - fantastic foyer with spiral staircase and lovely room with quirky features ( took a while to find the hidden toilet !) Loved the retro music and the staff were great ,efficient and friendly. Morecambe is a bit drab -we took a train to Lancaster and had good day there as the weather wasn't good enough for our planned walk along the coast to Heysham. Definately watching out for the kgb deal next year .
