“Pre-wedding stay”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

My fiancé and I stayed at The Midland in Morecambe on 28th December as a Christmas treat ahead of our September wedding at the hotel.

Check in was really efficient and the lady at reception was really friendly and helpful. The reception area really is spectacular and I literally can't wait to walk down that staircase on my wedding day!

We were in room 108 on the first floor and have a balcony overlooking Morecambe bay. The room was spotless and really spacious - as has been mentioned before, the storage and bathroom space is genius!

We both slept well - the beds were really comfy and we heard no noise from outside our room.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant with tables set to look out over the beach and the bay - a fantastic morning view! Breakfast offers a selection of cereals, pastries, fruit and breads to start and a cooked breakfast made to order (with choices from full English down to eggs benedict). My fiance had scrambled eggs on toast and I had the full veggie breakfast which was perfect! Again the staff at breakfast were friendly and helpful and served everything with a smile.

Check out was quick and simple, again with really friendly staff.

All in all the perfect break between Christmas and New Year to get us both excited about September - thank you to all the staff working whilst we were visiting and to Vicky Cruse, our wedding planner, for helping us book our stay and being an all round star!

We had a celebratory lunch here over the chrismas holidays and were given a table in an otherwise empty restaurant. You would be mistaken however if you were to conclude that led to attentive service, which sadly was not the case. That said, the menu had a variety of delicious options and was excellent value at around £15 for 2 courses. The hotel itself shines like a beacon in the otherwise dour Morecombe and commands excellent views of the bay: I highly recommend popping in if you have the chance and sampling the locally sourced potted shrimps before walking along the water.

Thank you for your review of your visit to The Midland for Christmas lunch.
I was sorry to read that, whilst your experience was generally positive, your impression was of a lack of attention from the restauarnt team.
I will of course share your comments with the team and apologise for any dissatisfaction caused.

Stayed here on what must have been one of the best weekends (weather wise) in Morecambe's history. We had a lovely room with sea view and balcony which was ideal for drinking the champagne that I had booked as a silver wedding treat.

We ate at Frankie and Benny's the first night but had lovely cocktails in the Rotunda Bar afterwards with lovely views on the patio of the sunset across Morecambe Bay. Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner were extremely good and very healthy portions - my husband, who is known for his inability to leave anything on a plate, struggled to finish all the cakes in the afternoon tea.

A fantastic weekend and would definitely stay again if staying in Morecambe.

We booked the four night Christmas Package for the first time stay at the Midland Hotel. We found the staff delightful, helpful and not obtrusive. They just blended into the background. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard with the rooms exceptional with all their facilities and unique chairs. The concealed toilet was a hit with the kids. The whole package was fantastic and would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is a shame there is not more hotels to this standard.

Room Tip: No swimming pool.

This is without doubt the best hotel at which I have ever stayed. Not only has it been renovated to nearly it's original style of the 1930's but the staff are truly wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they go out of their way to ensure your complete customer satisfaction.

I had been wanting to visit this hotel for a few years.
It didn't disappoint.
The staff were delightful, the food was delicious (and plentiful), and the hotel stunning.
The perfect time out from the hectic build up to Christmas.

Room Tip: Room 214 was great. 2nd floor, sea facing with a small balcony

Love it. Love it . Love it!!!!! It is stylish, fantastic rooms, food wonderful and the view from the dining room is great. This has become my guilty pleasure! My husband and I go for birthdays, anniversaries, in fact any excuse! Morecambe is not the obvious place to visit but it is on the edge of the Lakes and has fantastic drives nearby. Most of all it has this glorious hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the bay
