Having travelled all over the UK (and World) on business and pleasure trips I have seen my fair share of tired, dated and chintzy B&B's. This place however is a refreshing change from the pseudo "charming" world of the archetypal 70's B&B. The interior decor is modern and minimal without being cold and catalogue and is a refreshing change from the floral acid flashback decor often found in middle Britain establishments.
A warm welcome from our hosts was accompanied by a warm roaring log burner in a spacious lounge and unlike some other guest houses I've stayed in this wasn't a front to lure you into a false sense of security (and comfort). The bedrooms with en-suite were equally well finished, homely yet modern.
Breakfast was on par with other high quality guest house's I've stayed in over the last 20 years, I really could not find fault with place. All village amenities are within a stones throw, great pub across the street, Indian restaurant, Italian restaurant, late shop, filling station etc all with walking distance.
No matter what your reason to visit the area, couples on a long weekend, business fly by or hitting Dalby Forest on your mountain bike its a great place to be based.
If I'm back in Pickering again it will be my first choice for a place to stay. Many thank's to Amanda & Mike for a pleasant stay.More
