“Exceptional accommodation at The Barn”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

We stayed at The Barn for a week and only wish it could have been longer. From the design of the living accommodation to the choice of furnishings and household equipment, every aspect of The Barn has been very carefully considered and executed to a very high standard. We couldn't have been more comfortable and would definitely like to stay again.

Tim and Noelle are very gracious and welcoming hosts - the cream tea on arrival, home-baked bread and supply of local milk, eggs, bacon and sausages for breakfast on our first morning, was a lovely touch, along with fresh flowers in the living room and bedroom. Our host's expert local knowledge was also very helpful and Tim gave us some great tips on what to see and do, where to buy local produce and the best places to eat out - we can certainly recommend The Star Inn at Harome if you want to treat yourself.

We also took advantage of the home-cooked meals service available at Noelle's Cottages from Zaks Homemade. It was a real treat not having too cook or think about food shopping during our holiday. We placed our orders in advance for the week and when we arrived back at The Barn on an evening, we'd find our daily menu choices in the fridge with instructions - everything is designed to cook at the same temperature for the same length of time, so all we had to do was put the food in the oven - it really couldn't have been easier and everything was so tasty, we we didn't cook at all during the whole week.

Noelle's cottages is definitely one of the best self-catering holidays we've ever had - we really hope to be able to visit The Barn again soon.

Our family had a lovely stay in Applestore cottage. The cottage is beautifully appointed, with the master bedroom and bathroom deserving particular mention. The rooms are spacious - great for our young boys (5, 3 and 8 months), who also loved exploring the large gardens and the trampoline.

We stayed in the Coach House for a week. We enjoyed it very much. The cottage ticked all the boxes. The children (4 and 8) had a lot of fun on the trampoline in the garden!
Nice quiet location, yet close to town. Beautiful garden. The website gives an accurate sense of the place.
It 's always difficult to find a great cottage on the internet: This is the One!

This was our third visit to Noelle's Cottages and this time we decided to stay in the Coach House. Upon driving in the entrance from the back lane we were greeted with gardens ablaze with spring flowers and the sight of the Coach House set back amid this riot of colour on a grey day. Our spirits were immediately lifted. We love North Yorkshire as a holiday destination and would not stay anywhere else. Noelle and her family are gracious hosts offering a warm welcome upon arrival and are always happy to offer help where needed. The Coach House is large enough to accommodate personal space as well as a really comfy sitting room and spacious separate dining area for spending time together. An armchair positioned in front of the large double doors which open out onto the garden was the perfect spot to relax and watch the changing parade of wild life.
The beds are really comfortable and warm. We recommend the Coach House for a relaxing break, the quality of the furnishings, the position of the property for exploring the Moors and Dales and the impeccable service Noelle and her family offer.

Our first trip to this area and what a lovely warm welcome by Noelle to a beautiful cottage (Applestore), where a cream tea was waiting for us in the kitchen. The cottage was very homely, well equipped and the master bedroom and bathroom were stunning! The gradens surrounding the cottage were beautiful and we spent many mornings wandering through the gardens and the kids played on the trampoline. There was plenty of information in the cottage about things to do and places to eat and Noelle was on hand to provide recommendations. The location made an ideal base to explore the surrounding areas and coastline and with 2 teenage children, there was plenty to do such as going to York, Whitby and Flamingo Land.
Highly recommended and we look forward to returning one day!

A second visit for us, having previously stayed in the Barn. A return to the the same very high standards, not to mention the lovely cream tea waiting for us on arrival! The setting for the Coach House is great, we were making breakfast watching the blackbird building it's nest and listening to the owl in the evening. The Coach House was very cosy, especially as we made good use of the log burner! Again, perfectly placed for exploring the area. Next time, Applestore...........

We have wanted to go here for some time and were not at all disappointed. As others have described, the welcome from Noelle and Tim is warm and generous, including home made scones with a cream tea, wine and other delicious goodies to set us up - along with whatever help we wanted in deciding where to go. A degree doesn't help when trying to fathom the complicated electrics but the various sorts of lighting created atmosphere and the wood burning stove and under-floor heating kept us cosy. An excellent base from which to explore coast, moors, lovely villages and historic towns and cities. We will be looking to go again.
