“Good to be back!”

Used to stop at this place years ago as it is a good base for some great hikin areas but the last time we stopped it was rubbish the staff could nt be bothered the place was tatty and tired and you just felt why did nt we go back to the Lion or Farndale? Anyway got two days off from work Lion was full so risked going back here? You know what we were really suprised. The new owners seem really bothered and really stress they want the best for your stay all the staff were mint they were really up for their job and were really friendly. The room we stopped in was basic but good. Views fantastic clean and tidy. what more do you want? Now my only gripe!! Somebody left a cooling fan or extraction fan on all night long it was like trying to sleep with the bathroom fan on all night Not good and I think this was a [--] up? Hopefully so cos if this noise is the norm whats the point of a quiet country nights sleep? Meals? had a bar meal it was ok but you can only do so much with a packet and a tin or a freezer and a micro! Breakfast? Fantastic it was that good all food really hot and cooked well and waiting on staff really good. Overall we will go back because it was so much better than last time we stopped. Would have loved a big 5 outta 5 but fan noise and ok bar meal stopped it> Thanks.

Called in by chance with some friends. Staff very welcoming, we sat outside to enjoy the sun and the lovely member of staff from New Zealand brought us out the evening menu when they had just been printed. I had rabbit and chorizo ragout which was lovely. We all enjoyed our meals which were served by a really helpful waitress.

We spent a lovely weekend here for my birthday. I doubt whether you could find a friendlier place to stay. We had a meal in the restaurant on our first night and it was so good that we booked again for our second night. The breakfasts were superb and certainly set you up for the day. The Inn is situated up the hill from Rosedale Abbey with fabulous views and lovely walks down the valley. If you need a peaceful country break this is the place to go.

Room Tip: Room 4 does not have the views of the valley but has a lovely balcony to sit on.

We have enjoyed a number of 2 night breaks during recent months but this was by far the best. It started with a member of staff coming out to the car park to let us know there was a quicker way in with our suitcase and this helpful young man definitely set the scene. The staff were extremely welcoming without exception - in fact we have never come across such helpful and friendly staff across the board. We had booked a deal which included a superior room but they were all fully booked so just had a normal double room which was adequate for our needs. Not too keen on the wooden frame around the bed as the room was quite small but that is the only negative thing I can think of. We ate at the White Horse both evenings and also managed a light lunch after our delicious breakfasts! The meals were excellent on all occasions and we are already looking forward to returning to this beautiful place. Well done to all who own and run the White Horse.

Fantastic pub/hotel, the staff were all excellent very friendly and welcoming.
We stopped over the May bank holiday, the weather was brilliant and the views from the hotel spectacular. The walks along Northdale and Rosedale are amazing and very quiet. On bank holiday Sunday we didn't see another walker on our 5 mile round trip. Food delicious and filling after a long walk. I can highly recommend this hotel, book in you wont be dissapointed.

If you are going walking or for a drive don't forget to call in at Dale End Farm, home of the soon to be famous Farm House Fodder Tea Garden, cream tea's to die for....see internet.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a view across the valley

We stayed here with a Living Social Deal and were very pleasantly surprised with what a lovely place this was. We were made very welcome on arrival and shown to a very clean and spacious family room with large bathroom and views out across the valley. There was a cosy fire and we relaxed on arrival with a glass of prosecco (part of the deal). On viewing the menu we decided to book a table for our meal, which was amazing. We shared a started of breaded mushrooms and garlic mayo, then my husband chose perch with mediteranean vegetables and I chose the pheasant casserole, both meals were absolutely delicious and good portions. The service was excellent and could not be faulted. After a good nights sleep we enjoyed a very generous cooked breakfast before our departure. The only negative thing that I can say was the mix up over our bill, where we were nearly charged double for our meals and drinks, but this was soon sorted out. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this cosy Yorkshire pub to anyone.

Stayed here for two nights over the long bank holiday weekend. The views from our window were amazing and the hotel staff were welcoming and friendly, especially those in the restaurant. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our room was a bit lacking in style but was possibly the most spotless room we've ever stayed in. Overall, a lovely, relaxing break.

Room Tip: Maybe go for a superior room or don't leave booking until the last minute, like we did!
