This is an outstanding hostel. It's very small but very well equipped, spotlessly clean and well maintained. This hostel owes its success to its manager and is a model to aspire to for some of the other hostels we have used. We visited in February and were warm despite the cold weather.
Note that this is a hostel, not a hotel. It is self-catering only. You can take your own alcohol if that's your thing.
It is ideally placed for Dalby Forest, so close you can walk or cycle there and avoid the outrageous Forest Enterprises car parking charges. So good for all the mountain bike crew as well as the robust walkers.
There is a great variety of walking country all around Lockton, enough to keep a keen rambler happy for days and days. There is a stop n the NY Moors Railway a few miles off at Levisham Station (you need to check the operating schedule to be sure of getting your dates right). There is a pub in easy walking distance although not in the village itself.
It is a short drive north of Pickering where most of everything is available.
No TV or music which suits us just fine.More
