“Brilliant stay”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

This hotel is a great find. A party of four spent the weekend at this lovely hotel, and we are very happy we chose this one. It’s very friendly staff were always on hand and very accommodating to our needs.
It has a lovely atmosphere and a great pub serving real ales too. It’s in a quiet location and about six miles from Pickering.
Nice rooms, with great views out the rear. Our rooms has a nice little garden patio out through the French doors with a seating area and table. Very clean and comfortable beds. Plenty of parking.
Restaurant was superb and breakfast excellent. In fact the food was second to none around that area.
Very nice place to use as a base and to explore the North Yorkshire Moors.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the rear are off the country lane, and well protected from the very little traffic...

Our party enjoyed another weekend break at the end of March 2014.This country inn offers a friendly welcome, top class food and excellent service, with comfortable and well fitted rooms. All we needed for a Yorkshire walking and touring stay with friends.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms with their own patio and garden views are worth the extra cost.

We stayed at the Blacksmiths from 27th - 29th December 2013. It was very cold and icy but the roaring fire in the bar soon warmed us both up. We had a fantastic time. The staff are extremely polite and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. The food was excellent.
Our room was very clean and well presented and the attention to detail was amazing.
If we could have taken our doggy as well it would have been even better.
I'm sure we will be visiting again soon.

I recently visited the Blacksmith Inn whilst staying at Rocklands Lodges nearby. We found the restaurant online and thought the menu looked lovely so decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The staff made us very welcome and the food was delicious! I had the braised ox cheek which was one of the nicest meals I have ever eaten. The restaurant was quiet when we went and the service was excellent. We had our 5 year old daughter with us (who proclaimed the fish and chips to be the best she had ever had!) and the staff were lovely with her too. It was a cold night and the roaring log fires in both the bar and the restaurant provided a lovely ambience as well as warming us up a treat! I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Blacksmiths Inn in the future. Thanks for a lovely evening!

10 of us stayed here and had an evening meal a few weeks ago. We were using our winnings from our local quiz. The other 8 had been about 18 months previously, and had no hesitation in booking once again. I now know why. Fantastic food, very good service and a superb bottle or two of Rioja. Not one of us had a single complaint about either the Evening meal or Breakfast the next morning, which given that a few of them are fussy gits, is a small miracle. We all stayed in the £80 per night rooms and again they were excellent, we all had a great nights sleep. Helped no doubt by the wine and beer. I would have no hesitation in booking again next year and will definitely bring my Aunty here, when she visits us from Cheshire. Beautiful setting, great food, thanks to everyone at the Blacksmiths.
