Owner description: The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is one of the world’s greatest heritage railway experiences with thrills and education at its heart. Climb on-board a steam or heritage diesel train on one of the earliest and most historic lines. Experience 24 miles of Yorkshire’s amazing scenery at this must-see visitor attraction. We will take you on a journey you can’t even imagine! Explore the Railway • Pickering Station is a must-see 1930’s themed station that will transport you back in time to the locomotive steam era. • A must-see is the celebrity station, Goathland, which became Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film. • Explore Grosmont Station which is home to the operating and engineering world of the NYMR. If you are lucky you might be able to catch a sneaky peak at the work taking place on our engines! • Visit Whitby with its narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking ruins of Whitby Abbey. • Explore Levisham Station which is surrounded by the North York Moors.

Even if you aren't a railway enthusiast you will like this.
My Husband chose this as part of his birthday outing as it does not require much walking or excercise to do it.

There are facilities for the disabled and the trains can be accessed by a wheelchair.

Pickering Station is full of old world charm, as are all the stations on the line.

We went the full trip to whitby and back and enjoyed it immensly.

I don't really know anything about trains but i have always loved travelling on them. this was no exception. The carriages are out of the fifties and sixties and this took me back to my younger days. The ones that I saw were in better condition that a couple of the current trains i have travelled on, on main lines. Tne staff obviously treasure their rolling stock.

The train journey is not to be rushed and the gently pace made it all the better, that by the time we got back to pickering i was thoroughly relaxed.

This is one of those experiences where the journey is the best thing and not the destination.

Brilliant day out. You need to set out early if you want to make the most of whitby or the other villages along the line.

What can I say - this is the first time we have attended the 60's weekend and it was amazing. Unfortunately, we couldn't make the Saturday due to work commitments but the Sunday more than made up for it, perfect weather, perfect music, lovely train journey. Would recommend anyone who loves 60's music to attend - hope this helps.

Our party of 4 travelled to Whitby return via a stop off at Goathland. The staff are all helpful and the journey was an experience I shall always remember. Thanks to everyone for a really good day out at a very reasonable price.

The trip on the railwat was part of a day trip to Whitby, so we did do the round trip. I was a little expensive £24 return each, but if we are to keep such memories alive we must be prepared to support causes such as this. The scenery is glorious, it ran on time, the stations en route and the smells of steam etc all brought childhood memories flooding back. Well worth it!

Walked from Beckhole to Grosmont and then to Goathland before stopping off for a few pints of 40th Anniversary ale at he 50/60's event and enjoyed listening and watching the Jive Express play. Great afternoon before walking back to Beckhole.
