“Very pleasant”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

I love a good farm shop, and this is certainly one of them! Such a fabulous selection of foods to buy and a lovely restaurant with it. I have been here a few times and the staff are always the same - smiley and helpful. It is set in a very pleasant location just outside of Pickeing. Every time I go to Scarborough I make sure we allow time to pop in.

“PROPER SUNDAY LUNCH”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

Called in on our way to our hotel for lunch, it was about 2.30 and we were made very welcome. We had the best roast beef, proper yorkshires and fresh vegetables that one could wish for. Lovely ambience willing staff and excellence service.

“A welcoming lunch spot”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

This was our second visit. We had been to look at a car at a nearby car showroom in Pickering and needed a break to talk it over. We had passed the place on the way in and it seemed an obvious choice for lunch. Clearly signed, good car parking. Farm shop with quality meat and criminally good vanilla slices.
The cafe is warm, clean and welcoming, with friendly and attentive waitresses. On each occasion we had the option of proper home made soup with a mini loaf of bread, and half a sandwich. The other food passing by on its way to other tables looked equally appetising.
If you want a good quality, relatively inexpensive place to eat without the hassle of parking your car in Pickering centre, this is a good alternative.

“Best Breakfast Mushrooms”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

Stopped for coffee with scones, jam & cream. Delicious. So good that we decided to book for breakfast the following morning on our way home from a short holiday.

Breakfast consisted of homemade sausages, bacon, local free range eggs, roasted tomatoes, Vale of Mowbray black pudding, a slice of locally baked granary bread toasted and freshly cooked buttered mushrooms.

Whilst this was one of the best breakfasts I have enjoyed. The outstanding part was the mushrooms. They were nicely browned but with all of the natural juices retained.

Clearly they have the advantage of sourcing the best ingredients from their own farm shop. However, whilst the quality of the ingredients is very important the skill of the chef is imperative. I don't think that the young lady chef believed me when I told her that I would write a Trip Advisor review praising her mushroom cooking skills. Well here it is.....well done.

Difficult to leave without a few cheeses, Aberdeen Angus Cottage Pies, Leek & Stilton Crumbles etc etc from the shop. And...how can you walk past all of these fresh vegetables? Did I mention the butcher and the baker? ( No candlestick maker.)
