Farm shop with a restaurant. The meat in the shop is top quality (best beef-burgers in UK). Very friendly staff --- worth a visit.

On returning from a week in Whitby we stopped off at the organic fruit and veg shop in Pickering and were then going to travel to Thornton Dale to grab some lunch. On the way there we came across the Cedar Barn. We bought a few deli items and some lamb chops which were excellent.

Rather than travel to Thornton we ate in the on site cafe, I had the Aberdeen Angus burger and my wife had the fish cakes, both of which easily met our expectations. They also use Tea Pigs for their herbal teas, I sign of excellence in my opinion. The service was very good, friendly and better than we had experienced in the majority of Whitby establishments. The toilets were immaculate. We have recommended this to friends and I'm sure we'll be popping in there again in the no so distant future.

This Farm Shop and Café in North Yorkshire is outstanding! The Farm Shop has a fantastic supply of good fresh vegetables, fruit and the deli counter is super with cheeses, meats, etc. The Butchery is very good, the meat all freshly resourced and is well known to be good and reliable. The butcher and assistants are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable - nothing is too much trouble. Likewise in the shop the staff are always polite, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The café is a great place to meet people, the food is good, the coffee/tea/drink etc is super. There are several events planned that look really interesting.
Its always a delight to shop there and visit the café - strongly recommended!

Took a wrong turn en route to Whitby and stopped here for lunch. Staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. Food was superb quality, choice and portion wise. Looking for an excuse to come back...
