We stayed at the Hartoft cottage with our dog, we have stayed in these cottages about 5 times now, and we love them. The owners are so friendly, and the little touches of cake & wine are fab. The cottage is super clean and very cosy ~ we have booked again next year. Outstanding quality and everything you need for a perfect relaxing get away.

Such excellent accommodation, and all so friendly - cant do enough to help. Cottages are warm and cosy, and many are dog friendly. Great base for visiting Yorkshire, being on the edge of the Moors, and placed between Whitby, Scarborough and York.

Anyone who has read my hotel reviews knows that cleanliness and quiet nights are my top two priorities and a week at Ellerburn Cottage delivered both. This is the best holiday let I've ever stayed in - modern, comfortable, equipped with everything we needed for a week's self-catering. All arrangements were spot on and the owners offered us use of a free pass to Dalby Forest which was very much appreciated. We'd return without hesitation and will recommend to friends and family also.

Our friends had stayed at the adjoining Rowntree Cottage last year so we saw how good that was then. They returned in June and we booked the adjoining Skelton Cottage, slightly bigger with a seperate bedroom. My wife is a home-proud critic and usually finds fault with rented accomodation. In this case she was over the moon. A great little cottage with everything you need. It has c/h, and a solid fuel burner with unlimited fuel and a big bathroom with both bath and shower cubicle. Private and quiet, both cottages are in what used to be out-houses of the owners beautiful stone house next door. You have your own garden furniture with a lovely view. Levisham station on the NYM steam railway is only 100m away, and that's the only noise you hear during the daytime, each hour, when the trains pass. It's easy to catch the train to Whitby and Goathland or down to Pickering. The moors and forests are handy for walkers, and one medium dog is allowed by agreement. The only downside is that it's a mile or so up a narrow, steep in parts, moorland road to the actual village of Levisham, where there's an excellent pub doing fine food. It's another couple of miles on similar roads to reach the main Whitby - Pickering road, the latter being another 3-4 miles for the nearest shops. If you like walking, peace and quiet and are happy to prepare some meals yourself, you couldn't pick a better pair of cottages.

Room Tip: Skelton Cottage has a seperate bedroom and is slightly bigger, Rowntree Cottage has a mezzanine-styl...

once again another superb stay at Hartoft. Didn't think it was possible to improve on last year but they have with new garden furniture! Back again next year.Although it is very central and on the main road it is very quiet.

Just arrived back from a lovely long weekend at Harcroft cottage. It was our first break away with our dog and so chose Hartoft as it appeared to offer luxury accommodation for us while being dog friendly (a combination not always available together). We were not disappointed - the cottage was modern and clean with a lovely bathroom and kitchen with every piece of equipment, pots, pans etc you could require. We especially enjoyed the lovely private and enclosed garden for catching the late evening sun with a glass of wine and a barbecue. The situation of the cottage was ideal -central for the sites of Pickering and a good starting point for a large number of walks. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed herself at Hartoft even though we didn't appear to get the dog pack mentioned in the publicity. We would definitely recommend Hartoft cottage to all. Bet it is atmospheric at christmastime!

We normally rent the Hartoft cottage but have stayed in a few others and can recommend them all.
This is our 7th or 8th time and we are going back again in a few months, which I think says it all. We love, love these cottages - well done again to all the team at Eastgate Cottages.
