We have just returned from a 3 night break. We arrived Friday 18th Dec after heavy snow fall. The driveway to the site is a couple of miles long and we got stuck in the snow. The staff were great and were there to help people get moving again (although it did take time). Check in was fast and we were shown to our cabin (No 1) and given a tour. The cabins are amazing. Ours was a Golden Oak and it was very comfortable, spaceous, well equiped and had the massive bonus of a hot tub which was amazing in the snow!! The cabins are lovely and warm (even in sub zero temperatures) and the log burning stoves give that extra cosyness. Cabin number 1 had a great position and was not really overlooked. Some of the higher numbered cabins are quite close together. They offer free bacon sandwiches at the welcome meeting but get there early as there was not enough to go round. The site offers lots of activities but due to the weather these were not available. But some playing in the snow, lots of DVD's and games made this a most enjoyable, relaxing holiday. Didn't buy any food on site as it was very pricey. There is no mobile phone coverage on the site but you only have to walk for a couple of minutes up one of the footpaths to find it. The staff did seem to be struggling with the weather and were not geared up equipment wise to keep the long driveway passable. On Sunday they recommended that we leave a day early as the driveway had been cleared by a local farmer. We decided not to take there advice and stayed the last night and were pleased that we made the right decision as the road remained passable for us to leave monday morning. Overall we would strongly recommend this site and will definately be returning.

GOOD:The location of the cabins are great in NYM National Park. The cabins are very clean and very spacious and have everything that you could possibly require.Comfy bed and great shower and kitchen. Very warm. Some great walks close by and some lovely places to go and visit.Great for spotting wildlife.
Bad:I went here for total peace and quiet and to get away from it all but unfortunately we had two couples in the cabin next to us who were being quite loud in their hot tub each night which I didn't expect of a place like this. Also my wife and I both ended up with a rash on our necks from the amount of froth that seemed to be accumulating on top of the water.I felt that the cabins could have been spaced out a bit better. If you do decide to go then cabin NO 1 would be my first choice for privacy. If it wasn't for the bad points I have mentioned then I would return..

Stayed in the Golden Oak cottage with my partner Monday to Friday just for a relaxing break before Xmas. Cabin was very cosy - constantly warm and well-equipped. Free-standing bath in the bedroom had plenty of space for 2 and the hot tub on the veranda and small private sauna were used loads! Also comes with a wii though you do have to pay £20 deposit to get the controllers (we took our own) and there's a (small) selection of DVD's you can rent for £2 per night. A lovely woodland location - we saw a deer right by our veranda one morning and just the right thing if you're wanting a peaceful break.

Stayed in the Golden Oak Cottage for a mid week break. What can I say, it was amazing. Can see why this cottage is already fully booked up for November next year.

It was immaculate inside with a huge bath in the maim bedroom, a private sauna and the massive hot tub on the verandah.

As this trip was meant as a relaxing wedding anniversary stay it ticked every box. The staff were great, could not fault the facilities and left totally relaxed.

Have already booked again for next year in a Golden Oak Cabin (pet friendly) and intend to find time to visit the cottage again is this was extra special

We went to Forest holidays other site, Deerpark, in June and fell in love with the silver- birch cabin with hot tub. We decided to take advantage of the great price for a 4 night stay in November at Keldy. Lovely site but not as pretty as Deerpark maybe. The cabin was beautiful and it seemed recently refurbished. It was a 3 bed silver birch (number 20) so had a 6 seater hot-tub! Which was amazing for just the 2 of us. Its a great base for exploring the area, the drive to Whitby over the moors is stunning, and great for walkers too. Nothing beats sitting in your hot tub with a cup of coffee, first thing in the morning. Our only gripe was we paid the extra £10 to pick a specific cabin as we wanted to be quite isolated. This was confirmed over the phone with forest holidays. However,on arrival the staff didnt know anything about it and didn`t seem to care that much which was quite annoying. However, like I said, the cabin was lovely and I would still very much recommend Silver Birch cabins at both sites. Its worth paying the little bit extra for the hot tub.

We spent 4 nights in a "Silver Birch" (number 5) at keldy and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The site is in the middle of the forest about 15 minutes drive away from Pickering. Pickering is a pretty town with a reasonably sized Co-op, several cafes (try the Concorde - we had an excellent breakfast there) and other shops including butchers, bakers , chemists, antique shops, newsagents etc. There is a pay and display carpark next to the Co -op.

Reception at Keldy was friendly and efficient. We just had to wait about 5 minutes before a member of the team came and showed us to our cabin. He then gave us a guided tour of the facilities. You have to take your own towels, washing up liquid and toiletries and we also took all the food and drink we needed. There is a small shop on site with a limited range of goods. A pot noodle cost £1.20. Coffee and snacks were also available.

The cabin was clean and very warm. Nice touches like a tiny plastic duck on top of the hot tub, welcome lollipops and the scrabble board set up to read "welcome".
After about an hour another team member turned up to ask if all was OK. We were very pleased with the comfortable open plan accommodation and the view over a grassed area. Even though the site was full you felt very private and we weren't overlooked by anyone else. The hot tub was superb, we used it every day. In the evening it was possible to illuminate it using the underwater lighting system. It was checked every day by a member of staff to ensure health and safety was maintained.

Please note that there is no mobile phone signal on site although there is a BT phone in the courtyard close to reception. There is also a small laundry.

The second day we were there we attended the welcome meeting with free bacon butties and hot drinks. This lasted about 20 minutes and we were introduced to the team and the facilities. Lots of things for children and adults to do like rove with a ranger, build an outdoor shelter, bat watch. We hired bikes but hardly used them due to the very wet weather, the lure of the hot tub and the many birds and squirrels that visited the bird feeders we had brought!

All in all a great stay, comfortable accommodation, great facilities and very good customer service. We will definitely return.
