“A few days off grid”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

Had an excellent few days in the forest. No mobile signal, so no phone calls etc... But if you have the need to check things there is free wifi at the forest retreat.
Loved the fact a ranger arrived within half an hour of our arrival to go through how everything worked and did we have any questions?
Plenty to do or nothing to do.... Really recommend the breakfast pack as it is really good value for money.
My only moan and that is because it is my pet hate, dust.... Need a little attention as they have beautiful wooden ornaments but they are dusty...but otherwise amazing.. Towels were amazing, very fluffy.

The location was beautiful, really rural but just close enough to pop to Pickering for essentials. Cycling and walking very good and nicely located for lots of nice touristy things...but not in March, a lot of things are closed during the winter months. Although that is our fault for going at that time of year. The lodge itself was good, but you could tell that it had been well used over its lifetime. The hot tub was brilliant and very well maintained. Kitchen was well equipped. The showers were not very powerful and the bathrooms over all weren't brilliant. I would recommend the lodges to friends and family with dogs as the walking and proximity to dog friendly beaches is brilliant.

Stayed 4 nights. Check in faultless, staff friendly and informative. Cabin large but showed signs of wear and tear. Dog friendly, however our dog is non moulting and there was lots of dog hair everywhere.
Mop and bucket seen better days so hard to keep floors clean.... Paths outside lodges need attention as complete mud baths making you really not want to go out with your dog as muddy before you start. Shop ok.... Very expensive.... But knew would be the case. Hot tub fine but could do with non slip mats on the decking as it was very slippy in feb when we stayed due to the rain fall. Not much else to do other than walking but had a few drives out during the day. Not sure if would return as expensive for what you get.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that your cabin wasn’t up to the standard it should have been. We have recently overhauled our cleaning regime, which will improve standards and we are also in the process of updating and refurbishing our older cabins. I do hope you will try us again in the future, either here at Keldy or at one of our other UK locations.

would recommend this location to anyone, that is looking for a nice walking break, family get away or even a romantic escape, the staff there were lovely and friendly, and the cabins were amazing, top of the range furniture and provided everything we needed. Definitely going there again and would 100% recommend to anyone! I didn't rate the fitness services as poor, but there wasn't any, apart from a good old countryside walk!

We stayed here from the 7th - 10th march. 2 couples aged between 27-35 all I can say is there was nothing broke in the cabin, all light bulbs working, hot tub perfect temperature clean and checked daily, bathrooms clean not modern but not aged just simple. Everything with the cabin was great no problems at all very nice and clean.

Park itself was quiet it tells you there's not much going on for adults other then bike hire or routed walks. But you pay for a luxury cabin we just used it at night and went on walks to the pub which a map is supplied in your cabin. No wifi or signal at our cabin.

We went to go ape on our day we enjoyed it only 20 minutes drive away.

The only thing we could fault is the fact the cabins are too close together we wanted to party loud but had to take it inside at 11 but to be honest we couldn't hear anything from any other cabins. On the pictures it makes out you are secluded in the forest think of it more as a lodge park with 60 cabins and you'll be fine.

1 last comment the staff there were fine. On arrival they were fine no issues when we arrived to our cabin Steve hottub man was great told us how to look after the tub and nearby attractions and on check they were fine.

Final thought is some off the reviews on here maybe a little harsh as if you do a bit of research on the site you know what your weekend will be before you even set off. In saying that our cabin was great there's May not have been.

Thank you for your review following your recent break at Keldy. It sounds as if you had a good time and that your cabin met with your approval. I think it is fair to say that we are not the place to choose if you want loud parties but hopefully you enjoyed your stay all the same.

My wife and I went to Keldy for a delayed honeymoon on January 10th 2014 , and the drive there was interesting as the Sat Nav did take us on a bit of an adventure once we started to get closer, but once we were there the site was amazing! We arrived really early as we had a 5 hour drive to get there, but when we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the staff and sat down to have something to eat at the forest retreat, which both the food and the retreat were amazing and we went for a walk while waiting to be able to check in.

Once checked in, we went down to the cabin and within about 30 minutes a young lad come round and showed us how everything worked and answered any and all questions we had and was very friendly.

The cabin itself was lovely, it was clean, tidy and warmly decorated. The double bedroom was very clean and well decorated, with enough room for our clothes and accessories.

The surround area was absolutely stunning, we did a number of walks including walking to Pickering, which worked out to be about a 5 - 6 mile walk we think. We lost track of the distance.

Over the weekend we must have walked at least 12 - 13 miles and saw some of the most beautiful scenery you could ever see, as well as seeing plenty of wildlife. Pheasants, Doe, Robins, and a number of other birds and animals.

We are planning on going back in May 2014 for a getaway with some friends.
The only thing that has made us think whether to go again, is the cost. When we went, it was good value for money, but looking later in the year, it got much more expensive to the point it was too expensive and I could have gone abroad for the same cost, if not cheaper.

Other than that, the site, people and local surroundings were perfect for us!

I could recommend to make sure you take a camera with you!
