“Home from Home”

Stayed from Mon-Fri last week. Jane & I took her contemporary aunt as the region was new to her and not very familiar to us. Beautiful countryside with expert guidance from Michael on what to do, where to go, according to the weather forecast. We were in Gower - outstanding views - with aunt almost adjacent. Explored other rooms when they became available. Aunt said "the best B & B I've ever stayed in". Breakfast was unique with food for all tastes. Anne very obviously a skilled cook. She and Michael very approachable and helpful. A real home from home. Made to feel very welcome and would not need to look elsewhere if visiting this area again. Parking is not the most convenient but not a problem either. Easily walkable (downhill)to some good restaurants and only a short drive up afterwards - to drop aunt off as she is unable to walk far.

Room Tip: Tell Anne what you want when you phone to book and you will be well advised. Sea view was a must fo...

We didn't think perfection could be improved but we were proved wrong when we re-visited our favourite room, Harbour View, the furniture has been replaced and other items upgraded and renewed. On arriving at Cliff House it's like visiting old friends, Anne and Michael are so warm and welcoming, a lovely cup of tea and a piece of Bara Brith was soon forthcoming. It's so obvious that they love being there and thoroughly enjoy embracing the local community, their enthusiasm is boundless! We often go away for the weekend but although we have stayed in some lovely places and met some nice hosts, nothing quite compares to Cliff House! The cleanliness, views and Anne's breakfast are all unbeatable. All the food, even the breakfast jams and marmalade are either home cooked or locally sourced, I feel sure that Anne could probably tell you the name of the chicken that laid your egg!! Roll on our next visit, the 4 hour drive is well worth it. Thank you both, see you again soon.

Room Tip: It doesn't matter which room you choose, you will want to go back

Just returned from another short break in this amazing guest house. We were welcomed like old friends by Anne and Michael and shown to our room(Monkstone) which was wonderful as always. Spotlessly clean with lovely bedding towels toiletries even a small heater for the chilly mornings and evenings! There were even bathrobes in the bottom drawer of the dressing table but I didn't find these till it was time to go home! There are tea and coffee making facilities biscuits ,wine glasses etc everything you can think of down to the little bedside clock! The view from this room is wonderful whatever the weather watching the boats on the water or the people on the beach we just love
it! The breakfasts are great freshly cooked with so much choice you can have just about anything you want and all top quality and well cooked with large portions even seconds if you can manage it!
The most outstanding feature of this guest house is the welcome and friendliness shown by Anne and Michael who cannot do enough for you and make you feel so special somehow...we have another two visits booked for this summer ..we can't wait to return!

The Cliff House is by far the best guest house we have ever stayed in the rooms are exceptional
with wonderful views. Anne and Michael are wonderful hosts and they make you feel completely at home from the moment you walk through the door. The breakfast is wonderful with plenty of choice from locally sourced produce. We will definately be staying again when we are next in the area.

I cannot rate this guest house highly enough. Lovely comfortable rooms with beds that you really do not want to get out of in the morning. The very best of breakfasts sourced locally, with home made muesli and the best sausages ever. Great location, with a pub in stumbling distance and good restaurants within a couple of hundred yards. Michael and Anne do a cracking job - well done to both.

Room Tip: They are all good!!!

From the moment the front door opened to our departure two days later, we were made to feel wonderfully welcome and truly ‘at home’ here. I can honestly say that I’ve never had the pleasure of staying in a nicer, more comfortable and relaxing guest house.

Within minutes I knew I could have happily spent two weeks ‘chilling’ here rather than just two days. Quite apart from being spotlessly clean and tastefully appointed, the entire place simply felt right: Cliff House is everything ‘Fawlty Towers’ wasn’t!

Anne showed us up to Coppet – one of the two top-floor rooms – and, as long as you’re good at stairs (3 flights), it’s a choice I would unhesitatingly recommend. The bed was large and comfy, the ensuite everything you’d hope for, and the room itself spacious, light and airy.

Fantastic windows presented a spectacular vista of… slate roofs and fog. The unseasonal absence of views due to a persistent sea fret threatened to become a standing joke. But, when the sun did eventually break through, these windows did indeed reveal a photogenic panorama of beach, bay, harbour and distant coastline. It was well worth the wait.

Back on the ground floor, our family party of 7 made full use of the lovely guest lounge where unlimited pots of tea could be had and TV watched. This opens onto a delightful balcony where – sea fret permitting – the views and sun-trap location will probably render any TV obsolete anyway. Another nice touch at Cliff House is the substantial DVD and book library which encourages ‘recycling’: just swap one of yours for one of theirs (all the rooms also have combo TV/DVD)!

The breakfast room – again light and airy with ‘that view’ – is beautifully laid out. The same might equally apply to guests who attempt the full card on the breakfast menu. Varied, delicious and ‘all you can eat’, this also features Henderson’s Relish which – although emanating from the wrong side of the Pennines – quite won me over. Try it!

Outside, access to pretty much everything in Saundersfoot is almost instant: just let gravity take over – it’s downhill all the way. A pretty and traditional seaside fishing village, it offers some more than decent restaurants and pubs, though you’d probably need to go to nearby Tenby for any proper shopping.

Although there’s no parking at the guest house itself, you are given a free pass for the seafront car park only 100 yards or so away.

So in summary… customer service excellent. Value for money excellent. Location excellent. Facilities excellent. Food excellent. Local recommendations excellent. Don’t even look elsewhere in the area… unless, of course, you leave it too late to book in at Cliff House.

Room Tip: The two top-floor rooms are well worth the climb upstairs!
