Not recommended in the slightest! We booked purely after reading the a la carte menu online which sounded excellent. We were extremely disappointed, the Dover sole tasted of seasoning and certainly not fish. The quantity of vegetables was beyond miserly for each plate and we felt it was vastly over priced for what was produced. The dessert was poor, creme brûlée was stodgy and tasteless, after sampling a couple of mouthfuls we were asked if it was ok, we said not and were still charged. The attitude of the staff was indifferent and borderline aloof. We felt completely ripped off and despondent after the event. The only redeeming feature is the lovely view from the restaurant.

The food in the Cliff Restaurant is of a high quality. I have stayed in the hotel many times with work so have eaten there a lot. I have often been slightly disappointed in the past but on this occasion I was impressed.

There were five of us eating and most of us had three courses, no one had any complaints about the food. The beef fillet was tender and juice, the dripping fried potatos were flavoursome and crispy. The pate and crab starters were both very good. I was told by my fellow diners that the duck starter and red snapper and lamb mains were also good. The menu was varied and had lots of dishes that sounded very nice so it was easy to find something for everyone. There is also the option of ordering from the more basic bar style menu which offers burgers, sandwiches, salads etc. This would be useful if you were dining with young children on whom fancier presentation would be wasted.

The sticky toffee pudding was very tasty, it just needed more sauce which our obliging waitress brought out when we requested it. I also heard good things about the lemon posset.

The service was efficient and friendly throughout. I remember having to wait a rather long time in the past but on this visit the food was all brought out at a decent pace.

The setting of the restaurant would really add to the meal if you were going as a couple or for a birthday treat for someone as there is a lovely view of the bay through the restaurant window. We were a group of five guys staying in the hotel on business so we were not too fussed but it was still nice.

Went there on our wedding anniversary. The staff could not have been more helpful and polite. The food was amazing but not cheap, a case of you get what you pay for. The view from the restaurant is stunning. If staying in Saundersfoot have a taxi, only £3 and well worth ir.
