“Wonderful views over the sea and harbour”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

The restaurant is located on the Strand on the first floor giving great views over the sea and harbour. The food is good and a varied menu available. One big minus is the toilet facilities, they are up 2 very steep flights of stairs and could be quite dangerous to the old, infirm and very young.

“Ok but quite limited menu”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

We popped in here for lunch. Admittedly we had read the menu outside and thought it was a bit limited but we assumed (wrongly) that there would be a specials board inside.

Having said that the food we had was lovely. I had a steak baguette (thanks chef for understanding that rare means rare). My hubby had the burger.

We did have quite a long wait considering the place was nearly empty, I know they cook fresh for each order but it still took a long time.

One point to raise, the restaurant is up quite a steep flight of steps but nothing could prepare anyone for the extra climb up to the toilets, they were upstairs that were very steep and I'm surprised that they passed health and safety checks.

“Decent food but painfully slow service.”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

Five of us had lunch here on a Monday. The restaurant was almost empty but it took an hour from when we sat down until we got our main courses. Two of us had starters but these were just a soup and a Welsh rarebit so they should not have caused any delays. Normally, if you order a starter and a main, then by the time you finish the starter the main comes out within ten minutes as the kitchen have a pretty good idea of when you will be ready for it. We waited more than twenty minutes from when starters were cleared to get our mains.

Another strange thing, there was a big round table in the corner of the restaurant, we asked if we could sit there and were told that it was reserved. There was a little reserved sign on it but we were in the restaurant for around 90 minutes and it was still empty when we left.

The food was decent, the Welsh rarebit starter was particularly good, it was billed as a side dish so I'm not sure if they bulked it up to serve as a starter but it was a huge portion and was very tasty. I ended up sharing with the rest of the group. I had kedgeree for main which was good, it just needed some mango chutney on the side.

Some of group had salmon and new potatos which they said were a little dry (the potatos, not the salmon). The fish and chips looked good and the steak baguette was another huge portion.

There was nothing wrong with the food, which thought was reasonably priced but then I compare everything to what I pay in London so if something was a little overpriced around here I would probably not notice. The setting is really nice, overlooking the bay, but unless you are prepared for a long distance event, have a look around before eating here.

“Very impressed”
Reviewed September 1, 2013 via mobile

Came for a meal here with the holiday and was presently surprised.

After eating here in 2012 I was not impressed but our children wanted to eat. The food has dramatically improved and was delicious. Staff were very helpful and polite and the view out of the window is simply stunning.

Will definitely return again.
