Then you would a lot worse than to stay at the Stirling City Centre, though the title does include a little bit of artistic licence - close to the city centre would be more accurate. It's perhaps a 10 - 15 minute walk, I'd guess.
The hotel has a pleasant prospect overlooking the river, and I think they might have missed a trick in not having a set of steps down to the path that runs along the riverbank.
The room we had was a good size, if spartan, but well enough equipped. For the more technically minded, it did look as though you could link your mobile devices into the TV.
The bathroom surprised me somewhat, as it featured a bath - but hey, perhaps there's a clue in the name! I'd have thought, in this day and age, a shower would have made more sense, if only on the basis that they use less water. While neither myself nor my significant other are in the first flush of youth, we are neither of us infirm, but getting in and out of the bath wasn't easy. Once in the bath, it became obvious that it was something of a slip hazard, and my wife duly obliged - no real harm done, but it wasn't the ideal way to start the day. Accidents will happen, I suppose.
Eating options - unless you fancy the hoik into Stirling - are limited to various chains like Beefeater, where we had a decent enough breakfast.
The big plus for this hotel - and the chain, I suppose - is the incredible value for money that it represents. This is the first time that I've used a Premier Inn, so I can't speak for their other hotels, but Stirling City Centre gave you a no frills but comfortable room with all the amenities that we have come to expect, for a really good price.
I'm not sure that I'd use it as a base for exploring the region, but if, like us, you just needed somewhere to stop for the night, you could do a whole lot worse.
