Unfortunately the weather on the day of our visit was not kind, so the spectacular views from the walls weren't evident. The car-park was also full, so we had to park in town and walk up to the castle.
The history here is palpable, and is well explained throughout the castle, and full of new (for me) information about the Scottish Royal history. We were also treated to a live music performance from a young traditional music group in the Royal Chapel, which was a nice extra. We spent 2 and a half hours there and still didn't manage to see everything.
In short - a good day packed full of historical facts.More
