Owner description: Dominating the skyline for miles around, Stirling Castle is a shining example of Renaissance architecture. Visitors can look out from its high stone walls to the battlefields of Stirling Bridge where great medieval armies clashed to decide the fate of nations. Home to generations of Scottish monarchs including, Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle is an enduring and powerful reminder of our fascinating history.

This was my second visit in two years, and it was well worth it. Recent renovations have been completed and we were able to enjoy parts of the castle not seen before. The audio guide is informative and the guides dressed in period costume around the place are friendly and full of interesting snippets of info which really make history come alive. It's worth looking out for the tapestry workshop - sounds geeky I know, but it was really fascinating to watch them at work on such intricate tapestries.

Went to Stirling castle 20/02/13. Found it terrible total waste of money. The castle was bare. Everything inside was so fake and modernised. Only stayed a hour was so bad. Visited many castles in the past they have been much better . My recomendation is don't go

Take the guided tour and if you are as lucky as we were you will be treated to an amusing and highly informative one hour encapsulated history of not just Stirling Castle but of Scotland itself. The admission fee may appear expensive but believe me the entertainment and information imparted are well worth it.

I visited Stirling Castle which had an excellent exhibition, all about the kings and Queens who lived at the castle and a history of regiments who fought around the world who were from Scotland. The costumes provided were fun to dress up in and pretend to be back in olden days. The lady in the grand palace was very good and funny describing the lives of the queen
