Just returned from a short break and stayed at the Cambridge the night before our flight from Gatwick. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, this was our 4th stay here and we have never had any problems with rooms, food or transfers. We will be staying again in January and treat our stay at the Cambridge as the first day of our holiday.

Room Tip: If you have any impairments with stairs, ask for a room on the ground floor.

We have stayed at the Cambridge on many occasions over a period of ten years or more, we have never had a poor stay, the rooms are always clean and comfortable. They have always been very helpful, during this time the hotel has changed hands but the service has always remained good. Under the latest ownership it has improved tremendously, the drop off and pickup service has no time restrictions, so is available at any time to suit you. We used the restaurant on our last stay for breakfast and evening meal and were very pleased with the food and service. I have no hesitation on recommending this hotel for overnight stays and holiday parking.. (but please leave room for us).

Stayed here for one night before our holiday, had 7 days parking included.
room was fine, was a little dated especially the bathroom but was clean.
Tea and coffee in room and tv with few channels.
was a little annoyed about having to leave car keys and it being moved whilst away, as i dont recall reading that when booking but overall would probably stay again for what we had paid.

Room Tip: no lift so high floors could be difficult if you have lots of luggage plus children etc

Hello Reyno555. Thank you for taking the time to write a review on our hotel. I can confirm that we have renovated all the public areas of the hotel and are now looking at individual rooms. We have fitted all new double glazed wooden windows in keeping with the style of the hotel. All mattresses have been replaced and the decor of rooms is now being looked at. The TVs should have the new flat screen tv's have the usual 7/8 channels available. We keep the cars safely, locked in an onsite compound for the duration of a guest's absence. The building is a grade II listed building, with historical value, as it was owned by Prince George II, Duke of Cambridge and it is therefore against regulations to install lifts, but there is always staff available to assist our guests with luggage. Or for an overnight stay, guests are welcome to leave luggage in reception and take an overnight bag to the room, which can be then put in the car until the guest's return, should they wish. As we do not require the keys until the morning. I hope this clarifies the situation. We value our guests and their opinions, endeavouring to improve on our service and standards where possible.

This hotel was perfect for what we wanted, a one night stopover before our flight in the morning, The lobby and restaurant/bar were lovely. The room wasn't the most up to date room in the world but it was clean, had bath and shower, comfy bed and tea and coffee. The parking was superb, car was found on our return in perfect condition (unlike when left at APH) and the car was in the hotel carpark not miles away. We ate at the Hotel in the evening and the meal was excellent!! Absolutely delicious food, great choice and a very nice setting.The shuttle service to the hotel was £5 each return and was fast and very efficient. On our return to the uk we telephoned for our shuttle and only had to wait for maybe 10 minutes. We will definately book this hotel again when we fly from Gatwick next year.

We only stayed here one night before we flew from Gatwick. Rooms were tired out, not even a duvet, just an old blanket and washed out sheet. Heating was not on and it was cold. Also very noisy, woke up at least half a dozen times during the night and wished we'd stayed at home and drove down. When we left in the morning on the airport shuttle everyone else said the same thing, no one got a decent night sleep. I try to be fair so here are some positives: Airport transfers and their holiday parking were good, staff were very helpful and their restaurant looked quite nice, although we did not eat in it.

Hello Paul and Jenny G. Thank you for writing a review and although mixed, we do value our guests and their opinions, endeavouring to improve on our standards and service where possible. We have just renovated all the public areas of the hotel, including replacing all the windows with double glazed georgian windows, in keeping with the style of the 19th century building. Which is excellent in keeping the rooms quiet. Our rooms are with high ceilings and thick walls, which adds to the comfort and quiet of a guests stay. We are on a busy transport link to the airport, which also adds to the convenience of airport transfers. But this is an urban location and there is road noise if guests leave their windows open. We are now looking to upgrade our rooms and duvets will be one of the things we are looking into. However, the mattresses have already been replaced and new sheets that are crisp and clean. We do regret you feel you had a less than positive stay with us.

We stayed one night prior a trip abroad. Took trip advisor comments on board and decided to give it a go at a low cost. Was disappointed . The double room was so small , we were stepping over our cases to get in , then in the morning when time was limited , the water did not work in our room 55 . We were given keys to another room , but dressed in a towel , dashed , but still no water. Given a third room , where water was a drip , we barely managed to clean before making us late to check in. When I complained , the manager was not on site , and the reception gentleman spoke little English . I was told to write And complain. However , our car was well looked after and they did pick us up quickly from the airport on our return ( which we had to pay for ) .

Room Tip: Ask for low level room where we were told water runs better !

Dear Ganagana358, Birmingham. I am sorry you felt disappointed with your stay with us. We do value our guests and their opinions and endeavour to improve our services and standards where possible. We apologise for the lack of water on that level of the hotel. Unfortunately, there was a problem with our water systems, which inevitably could not be fixed a short notice. We do, in these circumstances, try to accommodate our guests where possible. I have been into room 55 today and whilst it is not of an ample size, the shower is working well and is powerful. Thank you for binging this to our attention. I am pleased you felt our transfer and vehicle service met your needs. To clarify the transfer is £4 for the outbound trip and free on return. Regards

Stayed at the Cambridge for one night before flying from Gatwick. On arrival, confused staff not sure of our booking. Very over powering smell of paint. No lift to use, after being told our room was on the 2nd floor, we finally found our room on the 3rd floor. Tiny attic room with only a sky light window. Food & drinks at the bar were very expensive. Complimentary Tea & Coffee in room was disgusting. Shower leaked on the floor creating a high risk of slipping, hairdryer was not worth using. While dressing next morning, we were shocked to find someone coming in to the room, without knocking, no explanation or apology. The noisy toilet cistern continued to fill up during the night. Due to the strong odour of paint throughout, my husband & I started our much earned holiday with terrible headaches. Our driver was surly & constantly complaining about driving to & from the airport which we felt was not necessary to hear.

Room Tip: Avoid staying here & wasting money
