“Airport stopover & parking”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

We booked Acorn Lodge due to close proximity to Gatwick + with an early morning flight booked they were the only ones offering breakfast, negating the need to pay the high prices in the airport.
Arrived the night before and enjoyed a meal in their restaurant. Not an extensive menu on offer but the food was well cooked and hot.
The room was adequate and very clean albeit the shower cubicle was a little on the small side.
Staff in the hotel were polite and very helpful, bus to take us to the airport was already waiting when we arrived.
On return we telephoned as requested and went to the designated bus stop. To our complete surprise the bus was already there which was very welcome after a long haul flight.
All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a no frills overnight stay with parking all within 5 minutes of Gatwick

On arrival we knew we would be in an attic room as that was all that was left when booking, we weren't quite prepared at how small it was compact and bijoux is the only way to describe! Mattress was very hard my husband had no sleep because I this and wasn't helped by two flat pillows that were on the bed we did request another couple of pillows but there were none left in the hotel! Restaurant food was nice pipping hot and fresh! We have booked again only not an attic room as the price is good as we book really for the parking, easy pick up/ drop off service!

Stopped here in August for one night as part of a parking deal.
We slept in a room at the front and had the fountain noise for a while, traffic noise was an issue too but the hotel can't help that.
Our twin single beds seemed to have a bit of a slant on the mattresses and could probably do with changing.
We didn't require an evening meal so couldn't comment on that, however breakfast was of minimal choice for a "continental" - cereal and toast and jam.
We asked for wholemeal bread but it would appear to have been a "best of both" bread.
None the less it was all very edible.
Found the hotel to be clean.
The airport transfer was good enough on the way (approx 10 mins), but phoned up on our return and had to call twice to make sure we were at the right place as we had been waiting for so long, (about 1/2hr by the time it came).
Car seemed ok on pick up at the Cambridge hotel.

Totally concur in all respects with Wobbly 1967 and others comments. I booked 16 days parking + overnight in June.as we had an early morning flight. Note that no money was taken at this stage. Room very clean & smart, great shower. Had a pre-dinner beer in the garden & we were happy with our meal. An early-morning phone-call + follow-up knock was useful & perfectly timed transfer to LGW in minutes was just right. with full instructions on how to contact them in 15 days time. The return collection was equally well executed, the driver indicating that our car was now at sister- hotel Cambridge which has a far bigger car-park, and reminded me that we had used Cambridge a few years back with equally pleasing results. Whilst our return transfer was excellent, 2 fellow passengers were grumbling that they had to wait 45mins for collection after their phone call, but I can only speak as I find & in all respects it was great to take the hassle out of an otherwise120 ml. journey The only tiny adverse comment I would make is that our deal was parking + B & B, but as our flight was too early for breakfast, we missed out on that. I would have thought that it would not have been too much trouble to prepare a carry-out snack; maybe a carton of juice, a banana and a sandwich or similar. I know that you can get fed at the airport 24/ 7 but just something to sustain would not have come amiss. Other than that, we woul;d most certainly use Acorn Lodge again. Thanks.

Room Tip: We had ground floor front room neither of us was disturbed but it was a Sunday night. Acorn Lodge...

Have to say after reading a few of the comments in here i was fearing the worst. We stayed for one night with 15 days car parking and found the hotel to be clean and tidy with friendly helpfull staff. We ate in the restuarant and found the food to be good value and tasty, the rooms were well presented and clean. The transfer to Gatwick was less than 10 minutes, all in all this is perfect for a one might stay and resonable value for money. My only tip would be choose a room at the rear as the front of the hotel overlooks a busy road, if the prices remain competative i would use again.

We stayed here overnight following a holiday to Turkey.
Unfortunately there was a problem with our car not starting which involved calling the AA out. The staff were very helpful and bent over backwards to do all they could to help. We were transfered the their sister hotel, The Cambridge, while our car was being fixed and the staff here were also amazing.
They definately go the extra mile to help you in any way they can.
Thank you.

We stayed B&B with 15 days parking.

Parking

The car was not kept at Acorn Lodge it was kept at the sister hotel however I encountered no problems with this at all. On our arrival the car was taken to other hotel on our return we were taken to the sister hotel to collect our car the whole experience went very smoothly.

Rooms

The rooms were basic however again no complaints the bed was very comfy had a really good nights sleep.

Restaurant

Highly recommend the food in the restauranthe food is of a very good standard

Breakfast

The breakfast was lovely had nothing to complain about it set us up for our long flight ahead

Value for money

Definitely we had a bargain

Location

This is ideally situated for Gatwick airport transfer time aprox 5 mins

Overall

I have to say after reading some of the reviews after booking I had my reservations however there was nothing to worry about the experience was a good one . I would recommend this B& B with parking I myself will be using it again
