“flipping cold”

we stayed at this hotel for one night , as we were travelling out of gatwick the next day, we left our car at this hotel, on arrival we were shown into a basic , grubbly looking dingy room, and by god it was freezing cold, you would think that if these hotels know they are having guests they would at least take the chill off the room, it's the first time in a hotel ive slept in my clothes. in fairness one of the staff did come to our room and put the heating on whilst we were there. and because it wouldn't come on for my husband, but as soon as he went the heating went off, it seems it only came on at intervals, you couldn't have it on all the time, and no sooner it started to pump out warm air , it went off again, so after a miserable cold night, we had breakfast that was fine, and got the hotel bus to drop us off at the airport, i have to say when we got back to pick up our car, the hotel bus only took about 10 mins to collect us , and the car was fine and the sat nav still in the glove box,

Room Tip: needs a huge heap of tlc. and some heating.

We booked and stayed at the Days Inn Hotel when we flew to/from Gatwick airport, we left the car at the hotel and picked it up when we returned.
We stayed for one night, the hotel is very very dated, drink bottles were left in the lift for over 12 hours, not a great first impression.
Fixtures and fittings are also in need of repair, light switches were hanging on by a thread, the shower was broken and the room was dirty.

We didn't see any point in complaining at the time as the staff did not seem interested in us in the slightest and we were only staying in the hotel until about 6am the next morning to catch our flight.

We had a call from the hotels mini bus service in the morning saying that the bus was ready and waiting, I replied with "Thankyou, we will be down in a few minutes", to which they replied with "You NEED to be here within 2 minutes".

Upon arriving back to Gatwick at 6:30am we found the correct stand where we needed to wait for the mini bus at the south terminal, we called the hotel to let them know, after 30 minutes we called again, another 30 minutes went by so I called and spoke to the lady on reception, she told me that the mini bus had been, was looking for us, waited and was searching and then collected 8 people. This was a total lie, I was by the bus stop constantly. My fiancée then called up to find out what was happening, the lady on reception was very rude to her "YOU'RE NOT LISTENING TO ME" and hung up on my Fiancée. Another 30 minutes later the mini bus did arrive and after talking to the driver I found out that he hadn't been previously and that the receptionist was not being honest.

I went into the hotel reception to collect the car key (which again took ages) and no apology was given.

When you arrive back in the early hours in the morning you do not want to be left waiting in the freezing cold (snow) for 90 minutes, avoid this hotel and their service at all costs, go with an alternative hotel. The Days Inn hotel in Horley is not good and I would avoid at all costs!

Room Tip: Pick another hotel.

Stayed here July last year the night before we flew to Florida as it was a good price for 2 week parking. Hotel looked ok from the outside.. Upon arrival I was struggling up the stairs with my suitcase and a gentlemen passed me by and said Hello he didnt offer to help which is fine but on reaching reception it was the Hotel Manager!!! We booked well in advance but they didnt have the rooms we had booked so we all had to be split up...didnt mind too much as only for the one night but no apology was offered it was just busy. Starving 9 of us went down to the "restaurant"..for dinner. .the smell of the toilets was dreadful in the restaurant but as we had a couple of hungry teenagers and a young lady we decided to stay as was getting late. Ordered our meals waited a good hour for them to come and our young lad waited an hour and a half for a plate of chips..there was 60th birthday party going on and we were told that no extra staff had been put on for this so we were literally waitng fo the waiter to come out of the party and serve our food or serve at the bar...members of the party were also coming to the restaurant bar to get drinks as their side too was understaffed..not too pleased we headed for our rooms. One of our party had no lightbulbs in hers... our TV did not work and the beds were so low down on the floor it was laughable. To say the standard of the rooms was basic would be an understatement. Fell asleep to be awoken at 5am by the fire alarm. We all vacated our rooms and made our way downstairs and waited in the car park. At no point were we met by any management or indeed any hotel staff at all to tell us what the proceedure was. Everyone was just milling around for about half and hour then a young lad appeared and told us it was a false alarm and all go back to bed. This hotel offers a good rate for holiday parking and I believe this is the only reason it is still in business...it was shocking and does not deserve to be a hotel at best a low grade B&B.

Room Tip: The only tip I would offer is do not stay here

We stayed overnight at this place. I would not recommend any one to stay here. Our room was filthy and smelt of urine. We asked for another room and that was the same stunk.
The breakfast was non existant we was told that they had run out of every thing. For my continental breakfast I had a 1 tiny limp crouisant and 1 slice of toast as that was all they had apart from a bowl of tinned peaches in syrup. They robbed me of £5.95 for this which we had to pay up front. We complained and was told that that is all they had. by the way for dinner the previous night all they had was curry. This is the worst hotel EVER we have stayed in. further more I will never ever stay in a Days Inn again.

For what we paid and its location, it was very good. Room fine, staff helpful. Alarm call happened and very efficient transfer to and from airport. We had the Indian food - delicious! Decor a bit old fashioned but so what! Be warned - nothing else around apart from other hotels and a petrol station. Suited our purposes wonderfully!

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay prior to going to Gatwick Airport. The night we stayed there was one of the coldest nights of the year. When we checked in we were given an extra key for the electricty.
When we got into our room on the ground floor it was exceptional cold, the heating only came on when the key was placed in the slot for the electricity. We then found that the bathroom light was not working. The staff were unable to rectify the problem and we changed rooms to a room on the 1st floor.
The room on the 1st floor was basic but was clean, it would have been usefull to have had a fridge in the room. However the room was cold and took some time to heat up, there is no heating in the bathroom, althought there is a towel rail it is not connected to anything.
The hotel is convenient for Gatwick Airport, about a 15 min drive. We did not park at the hotel but parked at Airparks.
To be fair we only paid £73.00 for the overnight stay and 12 days car parking so it was value for money. If you stayed in the spring or summer you would not be affected by the poor heating system

The simplest way to put it is that a Premier Inn is much, much better. The staff were surly, the room cold with a very soft bed and the food was mediocre, so we will certainly never use this one again!

Room Tip: Book at Premier Inn
