“Room and parking cheaper than airport car parks”
Reviewed September 18, 2010

Stayed here in August 2010 prior to an early flight to the US. When looking for parking options this came out cheaper than the airport car parks and had the added advantage of us being at the airport the night before our flight. We had 3 rooms booked (6 adults, 4 kids) and the hotel phoned me a week or so before we were due to arrive to check how many people in each room so that they could also offer complimentary upgrades to any rooms without children. This kept the grandparents happy as they were given an executive room.

Shuttle bus to airport is frequent and easy to use (costs £3.50 for adults and £1.75 for kids each way) and on return our cars were waiting for us in exit bays.

Have used this hotel more than once now and we will definitely be back.

Good value and convenient for a night before flying out of Gatwick and parking. Unfortunately my family (wife and 2 daughters aged 10 and 12) had a really bad night due to the 3rd and 4th "beds" being a small pull out sofa bed - we ordered a family room for 4 and naturally (?) assumed we would have at least a double plus 2 singles. Holiday Inn management are distancing themselves from the situation and are saying we need to go back to the booking agent. Also please avoid the restaurant, the staff try to do their best, but servie was slow, food disappointing and the bill far too high.

The car park is rather run down and has poor access for travellers with lots of luggage. Reception was good and the room, although a bit care-worn was clean and reasonable equipped. The internet, however, was another matter, with astronomical prices. Why-oh-why can't hotel chains in UK offer the same free high speed wireless internet as their American counterparts.
The food I consumed in the restaurant was of reasonable quality and the service excellent, by again, prices were a real rip-off, especially the wines by the glass.
My company has a charge-back arrangement with the hotel which was booked by our travel agent, but they refused to accept this and I was foeced to pay for the room myself.
Overall, a less than pleasant experience.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn, for one night before our holiday. After a 5 hour drive to Gatwick, it was nice to be welcomed by pleasent friendly staff, laughing and joking and nothing was too much trouble.
The bus to the airport was every 15 minutes and was a nice quick trip to the airport, and was not dear to use.
We parked our car here for the two weeks we where away, and dropped the keys in the morning that we flew, compared to the marriott, that wanted your keys the night before meaning you could not put your overnight bag back in your car before going on holiday, defeating the whole idea of staying over.
Excellent stay, would defo use again, and was the cheapest when i booked.

We stayed one night at the Holiday Inn, Povey Cross Road, Gatwick. It was close to the airport but we heard no planes. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean, nothing luxurious but a perfectly good room for an overnight stay. The breakfast was excellent although a little expensive. I thoroughly recommend this hotel as a clean, reasonably priced, friendly hotel, minutes from the airport and perfect for an overnight stay before or after a flight.

I have been in and out of London a few times, always flying through Gatwick airport. The hotel was very nice and comfortable. The free breakfast was superb. The staff was very nice and polite. The airport is minutes away by airport shuttle. For 45 Pounds you can take the nearly 1 hour train ride into London. From that station you can walk around the center of London and visit the touristy places.....Westminster Abbey, Big Ben/Parliament, Westminster Bridge, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, Scotland Yard (Old and New). A short ride on the Tube will take you to Tower Bridge. Very easy to get around London and nice people for such a big city. They seem to like us "Yanks".

Due to having early morning flights going on holiday and late night flights on the way home, staying here before and after going on holiday was a good choice.

The price was good, and the parking deal was better than parking at Gatwick airport.
The hotel was modern and smart, the room and ensuite were clean and had plenty of space. There was shower gel and other toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, the beds were comfy and we got a great night sleep with no noise before our early flight. It only took a few minutes to get to the airport.
There were many facilities which we didnt use but they were available (some extra charge) eg bar and restaurant, internet, vending machines.
The staff were fienly and helpful, efficient check in andd out, and we were greatfull fo the morning alarm call.

I have used this hotel several times this year and in previous years, and would reccomend it highly as an airport base for early / late flight times.
