“Typical Holiday Inn Airport hotel!”

Overnight stay before an early morning flight. Rooms adequate, bar prices too high, but inclusive Fly and Stay package is about as good as you'll get near the airport for the price. Shuttle Bus to and from the terminals every 15 mins during day and 30 mins at night costs £3 each way per person (about a mile) and the taxis cost even more. Rip off - I only wish we could have gone from somewhere smaller further north.

We stayed here purely for convenience before our holiday, and whilst the rooms are clean, they are rather small. It did all feel rather cramped! Although we opted for the parking option, it did not seem a great bargain, but maybe we went wrong somewhere along the line. The £3 per adult for the bus to Gatwick is also a bit too much. All in all, I think I will look at other options when I next need a Gatwick hotel!

Stayed in a family room with 23 nights parking for £169. Very comfortable beds, well equipped room and bathroom, friendly staff and easy parking. We did not eat at the restaurant but dined at a nearby pub 'the black horse' - excellent food and great atmosphere! We decided to get a taxi to the airport for our flight to Orlando (north terminal) and so glad we did - the hotel charges £3 per person each way for its shuttle bus, the taxi was £6.00 so we saved as there were four of us. Worth considering if you are in a larger group. The room rate included 21 nights parking but we needed an extra 2 nights and this was no trouble at all (they charge an extra £10 per night). Would recommend this hotel and will definately book it again if flying from Gatwick.

Room Tip: family rooms are good value

The Holiday Inn is a short bus journey away from Gatwick Airport. The rooms are clean but entirely uninspiring, a little stuffy but the damning factor is the entirely inadequate restaurant - traders. W wated 45 minutes from being seated before drinks were supplied. The food took a long timne in coming. The order was incorrectly taken and even then with the incorrect order, a significant time was taken (>20 minutes) in delvering the correct order. The staff were simply over burdened and could not cope.

Shuttle buses run regularly between the local hotels and Gatwick airport, probably taking about 15-20 minutes to arrive at the Holiday Inn from the South Terminal.

We ate at the restaurant downstairs and had a couple pints in the hotel bar afterwards. Both were quite good, and the bar serves food as well, but more of the sandwich/burger type of fare. Breakfast was good as well. The rooms were good overall, with the soft mattress really being the only complaint. WiFi is available at the hotel, but it is not free, you have to pay 16 BSP for 24 hours.

Good choice convenient hotel for pre-flight stopover. Great if you are doing the parking package as well as the overnight room as it makes it a bargain. Very close to the airport. Room was excellent and staff very friendly and efficient. Drive to the back of the hotel to the parking area if leaving your car.

Couple of tips. If there are 2 or more of you it is better to book a taxi rather than pay the £3 each on the bus. The hotel has a freephone located just past reception by the stairs that links direct to the taxi company (called roadrunners or something like that). Cost is £6. You might also consider booking a return too as getting the bus back to the hotel, whilst fairly efficient, does involve a bit of a trundle to the bus stops.

There is an excellent pub very near to the hotel within easy walking distance. Cross the road in front of the hotel go to the right to the roundabout and take the road towards Horley. There is garage on the right with a well stocked shop. Just after walking past this garage, you will see a footpath on your left heading across a small field/park towards a church with a tall spire (you can see this spire from the front of the hotel). Go past the graveyard and church and you will come to a very old building like a barn - that is the outside wall of the pub and if you walk around to the front you will find the entrance. It's called 'Ye Old Six bells' and it has Great food, great beer and wine, great prices. Nice outside eating area, nice ambience inside.

Stayed overnight before early morning flight and were very pleased with hotel and parking package. Hotel is easy to find, excellent check in service from young man at reception. Room and bathroom well qquipped and comfortable. Had dinner in the restaurant but we were not impressed with the atmosphere, service or food. On our return when we picked up the car, we had lunch in the bar next to the restaurant and it was more enjoyable and much better value. Overall, good overnight experience.
