“Luxurious and cosy at the same time!”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

We stayed in this hotel for one night in Nov last year with the aim to get away from the city and relax. The place did the job for sure. Luxurious interiors, amazing rooms and bathrooms all up to TOP standard. It felt as if we moved back in time. Just stunning but at the same time cosy, warm and welcoming. We also had a few drinks at the bar and ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. It was mouth-watering, delicious, good choice of wine. The service was excellent. Overall a nice retreat in a quiet location, close to Gatwick airport. It's a gorgeous place and I definitely recommend it.

After an exhausting search on the Internet we chose Langshott Manor for our first wedding anniversary weekend away. It combined a romantic atmosphere with quality of accommodation, food and service, relatively local to home, that is so difficult to find in the UK these days, especially in hotels which purport to be of some quality.

Minor gripes: the lady on reception wasn't that well clued-up to be able to answer various queries that we had but, to her credit, did her best to find out; food portions were still 1990's style, i.e. huge plates with tiny amounts on them (I really thought that kind of pretentiousness had gone out by now!); other diners made no effort to dress for dinner, rather demeaning what we hoped would be a special experience for us (but hardly the hotel's fault!); our order was entirely forgotten at breakfast, and we waited nearly an hour for food; and, most disappointingly, there were a number of extras on the final bill, relating to the serving of drinks, which made a mockery of the initially attractive Dinner B&B rate.

The fact that we still felt the stay to be most enjoyable shows that the staff went out of their way to rectify the few slight niggles. It does sadden me, however, that we continue to put up with ever decreasing standards and outrageously high prices in the hotel industry in this country, and I always find myself judging against ever lower yardsticks.

We stayed here for one night and it felt extremely welcoming from the very start. Excellent service making you feel special. A very interesting building with lovely gardens, shame it was wet when we stayed!
The food was very good, although some of the ingredients are unusual mixes (anchovy in our lamb dish!). But the staff are very accommodating.
Room was superb, large with HUGE bed overlooking the gardens. Bathroom was lovely with every amenity you could wish for.
They do very posh afternoon teas which looked lovely (although we did not partake).
Altogether a great place for special stay - recommended.

My wfie and I spent only one night at this picturesque hotel but would have liked to spend more. The hotel is a converted 16th Century manor house that resides at the end of a dead-end lane. It's amazing in Surrey that you can travel a mile or two away from the towns and immediately be in the country. Langshott is very close to Gatswick (10 mins) but seems rural. Our room was old, large but well appointed and it was fun to explore the rest of the house and gardens. The restaurant is trying to capture the top end modern degustation market so that dinner consists of a 44 pound per head set menu (wine extra). There is also a somewhat cheaper menu in their bistro area but we had the expensive meal. It was ok but we really wanted something a little simpler after our plane trip. Breakfast finishes at 10 and checkout is11 but managed to get things mixed up and arrived for breakfast at 11 (we blame the plane flight). Even though breakfast was packed up, the kind staff scounged some cereal, croissants and coffee for us and, to our pleasant surprise, did not charge us. In short, this hotel gave us an excellent re-introduction to green England.

Regrettably we only had two nights at this beautiful Manor House. Our room was lovely - great attention to detail and all the furnishings and fittings are of superb quality. We dined in the restaurant on one evening and had a wonderful meal. The breakfasts were also superb - with great choice and cooked to perfection. The grounds are beautifully kept and the whole place, despite being close to Gatwick, is somewhere to truly relax. I hope we get chance to stay again - if we are ever flying from Gatwick we will definitely return for a great start to our holiday.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Goodwood Room, which is in a separate annex to the hotel.

Stayed here before flying from gatwick, great buidling, bedroom and bathroom perfect. Reception staff very helpful.

Slightly let down by a very disappointing restuarant, waited 30 minutes for my breakfast to come and it never arrived in the end had to leave it otherwise I would have missed my flight. Evening meal was OK but not worth the price tag. If it was not for this would have given 5 stars. Will stay again but eat elsewhere.

This beautiful hotel was so quiet and relaxing even though Gatwick Airport is just down the road. It's a little hidden gem and although it is expensive, it is worth every penny to stay there. The only down side is the cost of alcoholic drinks. This is probably something that could put people off and there is no bar to sit at or near. However there is a lovely old pub just down the road.

The room we were in was on the edge of the lake and it was lovely just to sit at the window looking out. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large with lots of toiletries.

All the Staff we met were helpful and attentive. We'll definitely try and get back.
