One of the best short vacations we have ever had. Fabulous room with a great view of the lake and mountains with private deck. The inn was spectacular! Huge room with jacuzzi and lots of sitting space and very clean....We enjoyed swimming and kayaking right from the premises in the crystal clear water. Nice area for a morning jog and hiking. We did a wonderful 3 hour hike up Mt. Pisgah. Gwen was a very friendly front desk host and Theresa had the answer to any questions we had about the area. Nice to have a restaurant right there because it is quite a drive on a dark road to go out at night. An ample continental breakfast!! Great coffee.
Next time we would like to try out one of the cottages right on the water for a completely different experience. Well worth the trip.

Our private cabin was the perfect base to explore the Northeast Kingdom during the peak foliage in Vermont. Upscale accomodations, solid food and earnest service. Our bicycle loop was 70 miles. Thank you WilloghVale. We loved your hospitality and your location is second to none.

Don't hesitate to stay here! Incredible value for an awesome facility and location.

Very clean, well maintained and great service. Really can't complain at all.

That said, don't get there and be upset with very limited dining, nightlife choices etc. That's not why you would go here so don't act surprised. The Inn was really the only dining option unless you do a decent drive. This was fine with us. They have a nice bar and slightly nicer dining room.

Go to enjoy an unspoiled, non-commercial lake vacation, not for nightlife etc etc. We'll definitely be back!

We were looking for somewhere to unwind and ground ourselves, as well as spend some much needed time alone. This Inn was the perfect place. The Inn Keepers were more than accommodating not only to myself and my husband, but also to our Dog. Providing her with treats, and lots of love. Breakfast was provided, but the restaurant and bar were not open (due to off season). It would have been nice to have a cocktail and snack when we checked in on Friday night, however, it made us venture out to Parker Pie where we met some locals and saw 3 moose! The moose were huge, and it was quite a shock to see three on the way to get some pizza.

The only very minor complaint I would have, is on the last morning there were kids at the Inn and they were running around and being loud. I do not think they were guests of the Inn, and I was just a little surprised to hear and see them after such a peaceful weekend. Again, this was not a huge deal, but I think the kids belonged to one of the staff members and it was just unexpected....as the Inn had been so quiet all weekend.

We will definitely be going back next Spring!

Room Tip: Look online at their Specials...great deals!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Twilight Cottage for two nights at the end of October. While much of the autumn colors had already fallen - it was still the perfect time to go. Because it was late fall we got the out of season prices, but the weather was still perfect enough to hike Mount Hor with tee-shirts and light sweaters. The first night we were the only guests at the inn and it was as quiet as can be. Some reviewers complained about highway noise, however we were not bothered by it from the lakeview cottages (though we live in Brooklyn so this might just be in comparison to the loud traffic we are used to).

The kitchen in the cottage was fully stocked with pots/pans and so we did some grocery shopping before arriving and cooked dinner each night (the restaurant was already closed for the winter). There was even a grill on the deck so we cooked the steaks outside. Master room had a double jacuzzi which worked great. We even played Monopoly and checkers one night.

While WilloughVale was a farther drive than we had originally wanted when planning our vacation, there was a way better value here than most places further south in Vermont which offer only a bedroom for the same price as a two bedroom, kitchen and living room at WilloughVale.

Next year we plan on getting a group of friends together to rent out the lakeview cottages.

Just returning home from a wonderful weekend at this inn. Stayed in one of the lakefront cabins with our dog. The cabin was spotless and the location beautiful. Woke to a light dusting of snow! The staff was great and went out of their way to help us plan a great day hike to Bald Mountain. Really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the spring! Highly recommend
