Really amazing views, enjoyed the wide open spaces and lovely routes that can be done. I've walked it, run it and many more times have rode it on a mountain bike. Great!

Lovely: profusion of wild flowers in spring, with cowslips & orchids & idyllic bluebell woods. Golden cornfields in August. Beeches & larches which turn wonderful shades of gold in November. Beautiful in the snow. Views of the sea & the Isle of Wight. Plenty of nice pubs too.
Don't let them ruin it: keep fracking out.

To call it a National Park is misleading. Its man made and well looked after by farmers and land lords over the centuries. Still the added protection of the Park is on balance a good thing but a more rounded response might be better in 10 years time. Don't expect to see much evidence of being in a National Park, I think they are trying to keep it secret.

One of my favorite places in the world is the South Downs National Park, which runs 99 miles from Eastbourne to Winchester. I am fortunate enough to have very dear friends who live in Eastbourne, and Midhurst (headquarters for the South Downs National Park) which has given me an incredible opportunity over recent years to explore what I believe to be one of the wonders of the world. It's one of those places that never ceases to amaze me, and where I feel very much alive.

Turner painted here and h.g. Wells lived here.its like stepping back in time, quite feudal in some ways.
