Stayed here in the summer for my birthday on a Sunday night. We arrived for check in and had afternoon tea which was beautiful and delicious. The waiters were fantastic and brought out further rounds of tea and coffee. The coffee was amazing. My other half had a salmon salad instead of the tea and cakes while I indulged! The salad looked fantastic also.
We then checked into our room, I believe it was called the white room or white suite? Beautiful big room with four poster bed. Overlooking the front of the hotel with lavender in bloom and beautiful Sussex sunset. The bed was incredibly comfy and the bathroom had a lovely free standing bath but no shower which was fine for us only staying one night. The bathroom had lovely spa goodies from their Temple spa which smell Devine.
We then relaxed after eating my body weight in afternoon tea and cakes and then later had some cocktails the hotels bar as we were early for our dinner reservation. The cocktails took half an hour and with no other customers in the bar...I thought we'd been forgotten but then did eventually come out when we were shown to our table which wasn't a huge problem. They were delicious. Perfect Cosmo and some sort of Rum Collins.
We then both had crab cakes and then duck for main. Food was fantastic but service could have been better. We weren't asked if we wanted any more drinks through out our dinner which was a shame and as the restaurant was busy, we couldn't get anyone's attention. We waited for some time after we'd finished our main and eventually left as no one came back to us so I'm afraid we gave up on the idea of getting any dessert which was a shame. I would eat here again but hopefully service would have improved. Bit disappointing given it was my birthday dinner.
We then arrived fairly early for breakfast the next day. There was a great selection of continental bits available, we went for cooked which was delicious. Great decent ingredients. Service was very quick and efficient. Tea/coffee toast, more toast, very happy!
We then checked out but used the spa throughout the afternoon as staying guests can use the facilities until the early eve I believe which meant we could relax and not have to rush to check out mid swim. Spa was almost empty which was great. Lovely temple spa goodies in the showers. We didn't use any treatments so cannot comment.
I would definitely stay here again.
