York House Rooms comprises two suites adjacent to the owners delightful stone cottage, in a small village just outside Midhurst. Felicity and Ian Lock are the charming owners and are so welcoming. The suites are just lovely. You enter into the small sitting room, which is very restful and has flat screen television, DVD player and lots of books and magazines. The bathroom is off the sitting room and has a great power shower over the bath. As well as the lovely White Company goodies and you will find thoughtful touches such as tooth brushes and paste and dental floss. . There are loads (and I mean loads) of lovely fluffy white towels and nice cosy bathrobes.Under the stairs is a decent sized wardrobe and you will even find a hot water bottle on the shelf!
Upstairs the bedroom has a generous chest of drawers, dressing table and a fabulously comfy bed with lovely crisp white linen and superb pillows. You have Jasper Conran cups and saucers (or small mugs if you prefer) for serving your tea or coffee (delicious ground coffee, of course), with your Duchy of Cornwall shortbread biscuits!
Everywhere is spotless - and you can see that care is taken to keep it that way. Fresh vases of flowers adorn the sitting room and bedroom and there are also White Company candles dotted round.
Breakfast is served in the main house at a huge Famhouse Ktichen style table (or in the delightful walled garden if you preferwhen the weather permits. The presentation and attention to detail is amazing and you feel thoroughly spoiled. Felicity even makes her own muesli and once you have tasted this I feel sure that, like me, you will not want to buy it in the supermarket again!
The local pub is a stones throw away and is great for a drink - but not so hot for food. There are, however, some super pubs and restaurants locally and Felicity and Ian are happy to offer recommendations and to reserve tables for you.
We loved York House Rooms - it is a special place and we left (reluctantly) feeling very relaxed.
